Updating The Military?

All I would change would be the handle slab with the cutout to access the liner lock. I would make both handle slabs the same profile. That way it would be MUCH more difficult to close the blade. You'd have to put your thumb in between the slabs to close it. Much like you see on some Bladetech folder designs. I hope I explained it well enough that you can visualize it. I'd leave everything else alone. I love the design with it's light weight, full flat grind, ergonomics, etc. A true classic design if there ever was one.

I've been thinking about having a custom knifemaker modify one of my Military folders this way. I doubt the public at large would like the change since it would be a lot harder to close the blade. But for me, I like them to open quick. I don't mind them taking some effort to close though. In fact, that's a plus in my opinion.

I definitely would not change the blade profile or grind. It's a real wicked slicer. I wouldn't mess with that by changing the tip, grind, etc.

Whatever Spyderco comes up with, I'm sure it will exceed my expectations.

When it is 6 degrees below zero and the wind is blowing 35 mph, I really don't want to take off my glove to close my knife any more than I want to put it back in my pocket locked open.

If the Military was totally ambidextrous ..... would be the only improvement I'd want in the knife....but since I'm right-handed, i'm very content with it As Is...
Just got a Foliage Green CPM D-2 one......after reading about the "finite" supply of CPM D2.....I couldn't hold out any longer.... :D
a real sweet piece....solid lockup...identical to the "feel" of the CF BG-42 one... Better get one before they're gone! ;) Here's some crappy pix..... :o
