Urban Dead Revisited

One of my Deds has developed a bad habit.

Every night, he gets headshot...every day he stands up and wlaks right back into the mall and feasts. He will have to find some larger size Zombie pants soon...

My other Zed learned a bad habit from Daves...every day he kicks in a building (usually a hospital, PD, FD or NT building), feeds, infects and then as a last insult, groans a couple of times. I am pleased that others respond...they can come clean up what I have opened for them.

Those durn survivors though...fun one day, then shop for two days. These guys need to sign up for a shopaholics 12 step program!

Surviving is gonna get old soon I think unless I go all Harold Shipman on the population and take a bunch out of their misery.

Dave...I plan to start banking XP too...so I can get a revive for my Zed and pick up some basic skills quickly. It'd be fun to hop into a building, wait unti there was a good population, wreck the genny, open the doors, fun party type stuff.

I've seen high levels play the "Who wants a surprise?" game...kill them in either state and you suddenly are face to face with a PO'd high level of one sort or another.

Last night my survivor got zombified in Wyke Hills... and my zombie got resurrected in East Becktown.

As I said in another thread...it's all about change. ;)

SGR got jabbed by a needle last night. What were those fools thinking?

I couldn't find a flak jacket today but I did find a shotgun, a pistol and some ammunition. I have a feeling that there's going to be some mayhem at Holly Crescent PD tomorrow night. ;)

Shamblin' Sam is *just* north of you at the Jillard Building [56, 75] trying to return a lonely sister of ours to the undead hoard but out of AP.

There are a dozen family members here too...perhaps your living guy could come down and post a message in english telling them what time to travel 6 south for the party?

Nothin' says lovin' like fresh brains the oven after all...

Made it to Holly Crescent Police Dept, had to stop and eat on the way when a Level 31 thought he would play. Need to build up some AP...

SGR the survivor is now in Hollomstown. I'm not going to say which building because I don't want you kicking the door down and eating my brains, Nasty.

Still no flak jacket although I'm accumulating guns and ammo. I ATE HARMANZ BRA!NZ err, I mean, I killed a fellow survivor tonight...my first. I levelled. Aren't I just a bad person?

Unfortunately, I don't think any of the witnesses are going to act on it and return me to zombiedom. Here's the guy I bagged:

Hell, the other survivors in the room were already making negative comments when I shot him. Oh, well. I'm looking forward to getting a flak jacket and smashing some gennies tomorrow.

My dedicated survivor characters are doing well. I'd spent all of last night restocking supplies and I made a lot of kills tonight. GRS has a few hundred more XP to bank and then he'll be a most excellent zombie.

One of my survivors joined the organized resistance a few days back. Just hit level 4 today.

You'll start really having fun now Rag...

Someone revived one of my zombies too Dave...he's pitiful. Still be nice to get into a PD or hospital and perform a little mayhem. He's almost got enough XP to buy free running...then the fun can start.

I have been banking my other Zed...has a few hundred XP saved and then he's off on a killing spree near revivers. I hope to get revived, buy harman skillz and chase them down.

Meanwhile...I am banking XP for the survivors too...thye've shopped their little living fannies off and deserve a vacation from shopping all the time.

SGR went on a PK spree. I bagged 6 other survivors (and levelled once) before a zombie breakin returned me to undeath. Today I dutifully made my way to the nearest revive point to begin the Mrh? game but I got impatient and ate the first reviver that showed up. I'm AP'd out now, so maybe the next one will have better luck with me. (I just chewed on him a bit.)

GRS the scout is waging a one-man revival war up in Roftwood and Randallbank. I seem to have amazing luck with scrounging syringes and I have a solid safehouse several blocks from a big revive point so I'm averaging about three revives per night. I'm making up for what my other characters are doing, I guess.

With the revives costing 10 AP now, the human-to-zombie ratio is approaching 50/50 as most people don't want to do revives anymore. That, coupled with the RRF's ongoing stampede across Malton and the collapse of the Mall Tour '06 has left a lot of zombie hordes wandering around looking for trouble. Being a survivor has suddenly become dangerous again.

Dave, I am in Ridleybank and desperately looking for a revive. Care to let me know where to wait in case you have a syringe left over?

If you can make it to northwestern Pimbank, I'd be happy to revive you there. Take a look at this:

http://map.aypok.co.uk/index.php?suburb=47

Locate Shave Crescent [64,41]. It's five blocks in from the left and one block south from the top. That's the revive point that I spend most of my time at. That being said, it usually has 20+ zombies in it waiting for revives and I'd probably miss you if you went there. Pick one of the blocks in that area with no other zombies. Make sure to tell me which one.

I log on at around 1100-1200 GMT most days. I'll take a look around there for you tonight. You probably don't want to simply be hanging around the area all day, as it's a popular hunting ground for some of the local groups.

I really am starting to enjoy this game now.

That's what makes it fun for me. If I felt like the zombies were an endangered species I would have chosen the undead career path instead.

Once I figured out the mechanics of the game I decided that my characters need a purpose to keep it really interesting. So I made my two characters dedicated survivors, working their way up through the lower levels primarily by healing and curing infections while maintaining barricade levels.

Revivification skills can be acquired later, with combat skills last. That to me seems to be the most effective way to try to keep the survivor/zombie ratio at equilibrium.

While smacking zombies with a fire axe is quite fun, it's a terribly inefficient way to keep a horde at bay, and even if you kill one he'll be back tomorrow, possibly tracking you down for a payback. So for now I'm content to keep those zombies working as hard as possible to get to each target.

And once in awhile I get to sway on a corner, biting my fellow undeads for XP and unsuccessfully ducking headshots until the little gray-haired man in the white labcoat arrives with the syringe. :D

I'll tell you what though, Raghorn...after spending a day at the mall barricading, healing and reviving, it's a very nice feeling to waltz outside with a full load of ammunition and strafe zombies for a day or two. Inefficient, yes, but great fun, especially when you're delivering Headshots. (I remember all too well how much Headshots annoyed me before I had Ankle Grab, and even afterwards.) Combat also seems to be the quickest way to level up, even accounting for the time spent finding guns and ammunition.

If you're looking for something more exciting (and dangerous), there are seiges going on right now in most of the malls, both forts, and several of the suburbs. Most of southcentral and southwest Malton is pretty hairy right now and support staff are always needed, but I would make sure that I had Free Running before I went anywhere. About the only buildings barricaded at VS or below are resource buildings or smashed safehouses, both of which are death traps.

I seem to have good setups in the Roftwood/Pimbank area currently. If you find yourself in need of a revive and you're around those suburbs, let me know. I can normally grab four or five syringes in one night of ransacking the NT buildings.

I've got one character headed to Ackland Mall and one returning to Buckley Mall as we speak. Ackland is currently under a major siege; Buckley was overrun last week and I had to flee because I didn't have freerunning skills at that time. Died anyway, got revived the same day.

I'm not down on combat at all; it's just that neither of my two characters have the necessary skills to be highly effective at it yet. I get better use of my AP these days by stocking massive quantities of first-aid kits and using one each on everyone I see who's HP are less than full.

I can probably level up quickly that way in a siege area and then buy those combat skills. Or get myself undead again and have to wait in a very long queue. ;)

Edited to add profile links.

Once you've got all the firearms skills plus Shopping and Bargain Hunting for resupply, and you've accumulated six or more pistols and a few shotguns, combat becomes frighteningly effective. If the trip isn't far it's nothing to smoke two or three zombies at full health and have enough AP left to get back to the safehouse afterwards.

Keno, I'm down to my last 2 moves and waiting for the server to reset. I have enough AP to revive you. Once the server resets I'll stick ya if you're still standing.

EDIT: Server's reset. Make sure you have full AP before standing back up; Pimbank is heavily barricaded right now and it's hard to find safehouses. (And you already know about Ridleybank. Don't go there anymore.)

Things are about to get interesting at Calvert mall, survivor or Zed come join the fun.
