Urban Lightweight in K390

Good grief, I got distracted by a shiny object. I came here to see how you all are liking this steel's performance.

I am really enjoying k390. My third - no fourth - no fifth??!! knife in k390
Started with the mule team - very nice intro!
Had a lionsteel TRE in k390 - didn't get much use, and traded it.
Then a Phil Wilson in k294 (almost the same?). Not a fair comparison, i know.
Then a Bluntcut fixed blade in k390 - one of my all time favorites
and now this sprint.

It holds an edge extremely well and responds easily to stropping (not sure it is even necessary). Not to be a downer, but I almost wonder if it is too much blade and metallurgy for such a small package. But I am not complaining:D.

I have been really impressed with the performance of K390 in this platform. I typically have carried a slipjoint as a backup to my PM2 and this has been a revelation in terms of Spyderco's SlipIt line. Cannot wait to pick up a UKPK. Would love to see more steels like this make their way to the line.

Got mine recently, really like it quite well, small but sturdy...like me :)

Here's a few shots;

Just got mine in about an hour ago. I've never had an Urban, so my first impressions were that this is an awesome office knife, perfect size and weight, and the lack of a lock is no problem at all. I can't wait to put this steel through its paces, I have a bunch of boxes to break down for the recycling and some gardening to do as well, so by the end of this weekend it'll have been totally broken in. My Benchmade Mini-Grip in 20CV did that work last weekend, and it sailed through, so I'm expecting great things from this little guy

Thanks boss, kool knife and coin

So now I've had it for a few hours, and I've refined the factory edge (which was already pretty good) on my Lansky. The normal stones did pretty well, much better than I expected them to. I followed up with stropping on cardboard loaded with green compound, and now I'm filleting paper! I'm really looking forward to putting this little guy through its paces[emoji3]

Got mine in yesterday and I'm super happy with it as well! Perfect size and a great steel to get to play with in a small slicer edc.

I touched the edge up on mine a little and it feels pretty hard, me likey ;) and she got very sharp indeed. With the front area for your finger, it's pretty easy to close this one handed and still be safe.

So far....so good ;)

Been carrying this since it arrived, handy size, closing I use the closeup area before the edge and then press the spine at the jimping area for a controlled start of the close, so my finger acts as a brake of sorts to prevent it closing too fast, once I've gotten past the retention of the back spring, then I move it to the half way spot and then close it the rest of the way against my pant leg...carefully ;) I am practicing it this way so the muscle memory will build so I can do it without thinking.

I measured the thickness at the bevel shoulders, thin at .015" so she really cuts quite well

Here are a few images, I've added a small fob on there, since there isn't any lanyard hole, no room for one it seems, I've tied the whipping knot so it is very close and tight to one of the legs of the wire clip.

I've been holding out for an Urban with more corrosion-resistant steel. You know, like the Elmax special edition that was done for British Blades. Probably not all that different than the original N690Co, but Elmax is Elmax...Sal, please consider an Elmax British Blades sprint run for those of us stateside.

I have been carrying and using mine a lot since I got it. The blade has not patinated, as of yet. It is still sharp and I have not needed to touch it up. It is a perfect size and the ergos are fantastic. Now, if they would make this exact knife in a back lock I could be very happy, indeed.
