User mods on RAT Cutlery

well you could have started your own thread, but i will try and help ya out :D
first off, welcome to bladeforums!
second, the ESEE5 is .25" thick and was designed for pilots to get out of their aircraft in an emergency situation, the ESEE4 is thinner and most would say a good knife for general use for camping, if you will be battoning wood or doing larger tasks the ESEE6 might be worth looking into.

Unbelievable. I just mentioned and you jumped on it. Truly amazing.
Well I'll have to explain the situation a bit further into depth and I wasn't sure where to start a thread, or to be more precise if it would fit here or somewhere else.
But looking trough this sub forum, I've noticed one thing - ESEE knives are addicting. And this is before I even held one

if you want a "do it all" general purpose sort of knife, the ESEE4 is a popular choice.
if you want a good combo, the ESEE6 paired with an Izula, ESEE3, or ESEE4 covers a LOT of bases. :D
and welcome to the forum!

With all due respect to everyone here, I'm probably making some sort of a mistake, but this is my first post here so I'll survive. So my apologies if I went over the line somewhere in advance.

After reading this thread and what has been said so far I noticed one thing - people that have RAT or ESEE knives respect their tools and take care of them. Quite recently I've had quite a few run ins with people that don't, and a warranty like the one ESEE knives gives is to them just a loop in the system to abuse what they have.
Now maybe it's my mindset, the way I was brought up or something like that, since I am still fairly young and the biggest reason for coming here was to learn from people that don't have the god complex, but simply know stuff better than I do.

Anyway I'm drifting off so I'll get to my point. I was and still am waiting for the izula folder to come out, no matter how long it takes. But due to a few reasons my camping habits will have to change and 2 of the knives I was looking at were rc-4 and rc-5.
Mr. Randall with the first post in this thread you said a lot of things that are honest and straight to the point. That's something that I respect, and with all of this said I'm looking forward to becoming one of your customers. And it's because you didn't try to sell your product, you were simply honest.
As to my decision between rc-4 and rc-5, I'll ask the members here for advice.

I wouldn't abuse it. If I got a nice new knife used it a while for casual normal use that shouldn't kill the knife like say using an izzie to lightly carve out a bear from soft wood or something and i place it on a table, and it some how cracks like hot chocolate on a tray placed in a freezer? Than I'd be like, I thought these were hard use? And Claim it.

If I HOWEVER, use my izzie to do a Morpheus move on an Escalade (out right abuse) and the thing killed the side of the big suv, and I stand there all cool like Morpheus, than all of a sudden the blade splits in half? Than...I would not claim it. lol.

If I use it and it gets worn good through natural use and wear, good. As soon as the knife becomes unsafe to use, from resharpening or etc? It will get retired, and I will buy a new version of said knife from Mike and Jeff. Presto done. I support great products by great people. A products reliability and construction says alot of is maker, the company and maker or one in the same for some, who stand behind a product no Qs asked? Has got some big stones, that or they damn right KNOW their sh*t will take and take and take some more, before it even sweats a thought of breaking, or showing even the slightest sign of wear ;)

What would Chuck Norris do...? :foot::jerkit::D
