using things on your person

I was thinking of posting this in the thread about wilderness skills but it is different in that it is a way of thought, not a physical activity.

I know we have some thread such as "Could you survive if you were put in a situation right now" but I would like to sort of make this like the wilderness skills thread. Basically, just come up with something on your person that could replace some potential gear that you might not always have on you. I suppose we could also include stuff like a digital camera if your on vacation or other gear you occassionally have on you, but is not related to survival.

I will start this off:

I could use my shoe lace to make a firebow string which could replace me pulling out some rope from my gear bag.

I could tear my t-shirt into a long, thin piece of fabric, to use it as a compression bandage.

If you pull an elastic string (not sure what to call it) from your sock, you get a puffy cotton fiber with it. It doesn't compromise the effectiveness of your sock if you don't take a lot. I could use this as tinder.

Also I have to say, I like the belly button lint tinder a little better:D

I could pull off my prosthetic foot to use as a club to fight off a cougar attack.

I'll split my wooden leg, use part to carve a figure-4 deadfall trigger and the rest in a campfire to cook my catch. :D

I could use pain I received from trying to read through the post I started about defining a "bushcraft" knife to explode viscous animals.

I could use my belt as a tourniquet or to aid in in creating a temporary cast.
I could use the draw string from my hoody to create a traction splint for small child.
....

I could use the $100 bill in my wallet (yea right) as a tinder.
I could use my socks as T.P. ( you know youve done it)

I always have an analog watch which could be used as a rough compass with the sun.

I always keep a flat role of about 6-8 feet of 100mph tape in my back pocket...tons of uses; bandaid, repair, etc.

My chapstick (Burt's Bees) can be used with lint for a great tinder).

I'm almost always carrying a pen or mechanical pencil...can be used to drink through like a straw in tight areas or used to concentrate blowing/coaxing embers or coals into flame.

If I'm wearing my rigger's belt...it could be used as as weapon:eek:

ROCK6

use my watch to signal for help :D... gold chain as barter for a ride into town, everybody knows nobody rides for free....

I was wrong! You ARE funny!

I didn't know that things were that bad in the moderator forum that you would have to clobber Cougar Allen.

A sense of humor goes a long, long way. :D

I could replace my boot laces with paracord in the event that I needed some parachord, but then I'd need boot laces, if I used the parachord for something else. I could use my boot laces in the event that I didn't have parachord, but then I'd again need boot laces if I used them. I guess I should carry some spare boot laces, just incase I need to use the ones in my boots for something other than keeping my boots on my feet.

You could use the innards of the ParaCord to sew, fish with, etc., and then put the sheath of the ParaCord, the outer layer, back through your boot's eyelets and use them as laces again - just without the guts in them.

lets see...If your the kind of guy who carries a condom in your wallet you can fill that wil water and put it in your sock to carry around...but that excludes anyone who has lubricated condoms and most married guys..lol...The paracord shoelaces are a good idea! I like that! Lets say you carry a firesteel with you, you could tear a small piece of cloth off your short toward the bottom to make charclothe, assuming you ahve somethgin to put it in over the fire, if you don't maybe you cna find a soda can or somethgin lying around, theres garbage all over the planet, sooner or later you can find aluminum can, assuming you already have a fire going...if your fire goes out or you need to move to a new location the charlothe will make it easier to get a new fire going...Now...if you do have that aluminum can, you cna make a whistle out of it! Very cool little project, I made one and it really works well!!!!!!!!!!! LOUD too, watch this video!
