Its layers of carbon and quartz. Not a coatingView attachment 960726 I thought caboquartz was more like carbon fiber? Or is it a coating? It looks like DLC.
Edit..
Read back and saw they're "Gunkoated". Not familiar with that.
I got excited when I pictured a carboquartz presentation side.
I know a lot of you are adverse to Facebook but man y'all are missing out on a lot of first hand, inside-look type of stuff that Tim posts on there. Also, lots of good discussions, pics and camaraderie from the members. You could make a Facebook and friend literally no one, and just join the group for the sweet content!
Ahhh I didn't think about that. But you're right, I'd think an established forum member could be easily vetted if they were willing to provide verification of their forum handle, etc.I understand and appreciate what you're saying here, but a brand new account would have trouble getting into the groups. We do try to keep scammers, spammers, and trolls out, and a shiny new account with no friends or other groups is a big red flag. Ot's that way with most of the knife groups over there. The one way they could get in would be to mention their BF name in the screening questions, and they'd get checked out over here.

I too would like to see forum handles there- Then I would have a list of people to give vacations to for that last bracket..yikes!
You mean you'd drive them over there so they'd also vote against The Catch?![]()

To be honest, I don't like either of the current bracket designs..The Catch seems a tad more dreadful...I may have to sleep in that one.
Not may faves either. BTW, you know my name over there, and which I voted for......
Go ahead.
I dare you.
I Double Dare you!
I Triple Dog Dare you!!!![]()

Still doesn't work. Once you have the Facebook account, then Facebook will track everything you do on the internet and link it to that account. Almost every website on the internet uses Google and/or Facebook trackers. The reason is because if you run a website, you want to know where on the website your users are going. Google and Facebook let you install their trackers on your site to help you figure that out. In exchange, they get all of your user traffic data. There's a reason that these companies are worth hundreds of billions of dollars.
If you value privacy, I would avoid using Facebook and any of it's subsidiaries like WhatsApp. While WhatsApp messages are encrypted and Facebook can't read the contents, they still know an awful lot about you:
Who you talk to, since they have to know who the other person is, to send them the encrypted message.
How often you talk to that person. Which can be used to infer their relationship to you. Are you married but send 500 WhatsApp texts to a woman who isn't related to you? You're probably cheating on your wife with this other woman.
The times when you talk to the other person. Also useful to infer relationship status. 500 WhatsApp texts a day to another woman and most of them are at night? Almost certainly cheating on your wife with her.
Where are you when you talk to the other person, and where the other person is (because Facebook knows your location when you send, and the location of the recipient based on IP addresses and even GPS, if you allow location sharing.
How long between replies. Are you sending 500 texts back and forth rapidly, or are you replying very quickly? How does this compare to texts sent between yourself and your wife or other friends? Are you replying to this random woman on average within 3 minutes but it takes 60 minutes to reply to your wife's texts?
This is just a few of the pieces of metadata that Facebook knows about you when you use their "free" encrypted messaging service app. There's a reason that Facebook paid $19B for Whatsapp and doesn't charge money for customers to use it. Think about that. 19 BILLION dollars that Facebook paid for a service they provide for free. Is Facebook a charity, or are they getting greater than $19B in revenue from the metadata?
Go ahead and use Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp and any other company that mines your data. But do it with an understanding that they are making hundreds of billions of dollars with your data and that it might be used against you in the future in ways that you aren't anticipating.
Also do it with the understanding that they can shut you down at any point in the future, at their whim. Firearms are becoming a target of tech companies and many gun-related YouTube channels and Facebook groups have been shut down. What if in a few years they decide knives are evil and people who collect knives are bad? What happens to the years of the Facebook group messages/photos/comments/friendships that you cultivated? Gone in a flash at their whim.
Bladeforums, on the other hand, doesn't care what size shoes I wear, or who my friends are. They get my annual membership fee and that's how they make money to run the servers. If you're not paying for a service, then you're not the customer, you are the product (and in the case of Facebook, the customer is the marketing company that is paying for your data). And Bladeforums is meant to be a knife forum. BF will not turn around and decide to ban all knife-related content someday. The friends, messages, historical Chris Reeve posts about timelines and blade steels, will be here forever, as long as BF can afford to pay to run the servers.
