USPS ever lost your knife during shipping ? I'm going through it right now

USPS Priority Mail- Bought Sunday \ Shipped from Ma Monday \ Delivered in Washington State Wednesday.

Over a Holiday Weekend this seems about right. You're getting every pennies worth of the Free Delivery.
free ground delivery \ 8 days for delivery

I had a pass around knife of mine take a couple weeks, it mistakenly was sent retail ground. Took a week to get to CA from OH then it sat in CA for almost another week before finally making its way to HI. Retail ground is very slow, I believe they only move those packages 2x a week. Over the last several years 95% of my 2 day priority boxes arrived in 2 or 3 days sometimes even in 1 day. USPS does have the most competitive rates by far. BTW im in central MA and everything I send out that goes west goes through Nashua, NH. Cape Cods hub is probably in RI, that makes sense.

Try ordering from another country. It will drive you mad knowing that your package is sitting in customs in NYC for 2 weeks. After that, it usually goes somewhere random like Minnesota, then finally to NC. The longest wait that I have had has been a natural stone shipped from Russia. That took 6 weeks, but only 1 week to get to NYC.

Customs. Grrr ... I was the manager of the post office that delivered to the American Museum of Natural History. Constant inquiries "where's my antelope skull?" "Where's my live southeast Asian bees?" Never mind the ordinary customers who also did overseas business. "Could you call Customs for me?"

No, they won't talk to me, either.

I have a package that decided to go visit Amsterdam on its trip from California to Wisconsin. Wish the package would have taken me along. Sounds like a fun trip.

Not lost, but stolen. Twice in one months time with two pricey Benchmade folders. From the same processing facility in Richmond, CA. Which of course there's no way of contacting them and the only customer service # to USPS goes to some fly-over state where some woman with a southern accent says "oh that's awful, I'm so sorry to hear darlin'". I got $50 for each ~$200 knife lost :jerkit: Zero accountability with that facility. I've had packages shipped with UPS that when delays happened; I can call that facility and someone will go physically check that my package is there ready to send off on the next truck OR they ask if I'd like to come personally pick it up. Every area seems to have a favored shipping company though...

I sold a knife to another forum member in Ohio on 5/2 and it went Scottsdale>Phoenix>Michigan>New Jersey>Philadelphia>Delaware. Then the fun started. For the next 10 days it ping ponged back and forth from Wilmington to Philly. After about a half dozen trips back and forth and my daily interaction with a postal supervisor in Toledo, somebody finally grabbed it in Wilmington and it eventually made it to my customer in Toledo on 5/17.

I had a knife go to Puerto Rico for no reason what so ever. It did eventually make it to me though. Sometimes this stuff happens. Sometimes it even happens multiple times apparently! You've got built up karma now. It will pay out eventually.

No, USPS has always delivered my packages 100%. They are late at times, but never lost. I don't trust UPS, FedEx, or any of the private carriers -- they have hit or miss customer service, piss-poor staff at local warehouses who don't give a damn about your package. With USPS, a polite chat has always obtained magical results for me everywhere. On a side note, I've always felt USPS to be a part of our community, never had a similar feeling for FedEx and UPS.

Your package will arrive, have patience. Put a polite call to your local PO, and have them trace the package for you. Better still, visit them, and have a friendly chat. Chances are you will find more information on the package than what the online tracking shows (and at times hints on what might be wrong).

I had a USPS package listed as "out for delivery" for 5 days. Apparently, somebody at the receiving post office noticed a postage error and had sent the package all the way back to the sender to collect 39 cents......???? It is no wonder these guys are losing money.

I got $50 for each ~$200 knife lost
Were the knives insure for Full Value \ $200 or was that the Default USPS Priority Mail Insured Value of $50?

USPS Lost 1 package out of many, many hundreds. A Milt Sparks holster. I sold it on eBay for $80 more than retail because they can't be bought off the shelf. I used the PayPal Transaction as the receipt and USPS Paid the Full Sold Cost not the retail value.

Update : the knife arrived in my mailbox today ! I was surprised and very happy. But the tracking number still says it's in Rhode Island. So only two days late. I'll take it.

And after hearing some of these other shipping stories , I don't feel so bad about my tardy package at all.

Esav Benyamin , your post had me laughing out loud !

and I am bookmarking you just in case I need help in the future .

No problem at all.
I would bet 8 out of 10 shipping complaints I handle are due to SHIPPER error. Either a bad house number or the wrong zip code. Be careful when addressing packages and always insure for the replacement value.
