Hello, weird one here. USPS Lost my knife. Had it sent out for dlc and was sending it back to be re lasered. Secondary market value is higher than it sold for from the original vendor. Now I need a statement of value on my blade from a “reputable dealer.” Does anyone know a “reputable dealer,” who would be able to do an appraisal and give a fair valuation?

Perhaps if you can find similar knives being sold online that might help. Good luck!
I tried that, and they rejected my claim. They want a “reputable dealer,” to sign off on the value, and I’m not even sure where to look.

I'd probably reach out to sites that do consignment for help. AZCK was already mentioned, and there are quite a few more out there too.

Personally, I think you’re going to have a hard time finding a reputable dealer that will give you an estimate on a knife that they’ve never seen or touched. Best of luck

If they won't take your word, how will they rely upon an assessment from someone who has not seen nor handled the knife and can attest to its condition?

Clearly, they have no intention of paying out absent a recent photo, a bill of sale, and perhaps a dealer's statement regarding the value in the condition it was in at the time of the photo.

Otherwise, your word as to what was in the box and what you paid would be sufficient...and they have told you it's not.

Funny that they're more than willing to take the money up front without conditions.

USPS Lost my knife.
You are now "knighted" by the Postmaster General. I've been knighted 4 times in the last year. Lately, USPS has been god awful in my region - especially using Ground Advantage - when checking status online the norm appears to be "arriving late". USPS is as dependable as the weather. It should stop giving arrival estimates it cannot live up too.

Ive had estimates that it was arriving that day but still be 3 states away, then some how some way the package was essentially thrown at my door at around 3am (..?)
Ill never begin to understand what they do, or think they do

This advice is too late this time, but for future sales, pirate ship is often recommended in part because they pay out for lost package issues quickly and hassle free (also they're at least as cheap and normally cheaper than buying directly from USPS)

In my 18 years on the forum I can't recall anyone loosing a USPS package and being made whole by the insurance. Not even close.

It appears to me that the whole insurance element on USPS packages is just some sort of a scam. Like asking for a 15% tip on a restaurant bill that has already added a service charge.
