I ship things USPS Priority Mail quite often. I recently sent my Spyderco Para2 to Golden because the lock was sticking. I sent the knife out Friday and the package still hasn't been delivered. What should I do from here?

I assume you got delivery confirmation.Where does it say the package is now?

I would give it to the end of the week, sometimes things happen.

After that I would start calling, starting with the last PO it was updated at.

Nashua is 45 minutes from me.

They probably sent it to somewhere far away. No kidding, once I had a couple of knives go from 45 min from me, to Puerto Rico and take a week to make it back. They was both still in the envelope, but it was partly opened.

I just want the page to be updated, LOL. I called Spyderco to see if the knife was entered and the DC just wasn't scanned but that wasn't the case... I am really thinking about getting a FedEx account!

It'll probably turn up soon, that's what happens with 99.9999% of packages. The remainder, that's what insurance is for.

BTW, has the weather been bad the past few days? Really cold weather along the E. Coast has been screwing-up shipments since Christmastime.

Nope, it's been warming up nicely around here... If nothing changes by Friday I will give them a call!

It was cooler today but the past few weeks, our carriers have been going around in shirtsleeves or light jackets, USPS and UPS.

Spring will be here in less than 2 weeks! :D

USPS isn't the greatest for sure. I avoid them as often as I can.

Here's the thing you have to keep in mind with USPS Priority Mail. It does not guarantee tracking at all, it even says so buried somewhere in a FAQ on their website. I've spoken with many postal employees about this and they confirmed that as a fact for me as well. If you get a "tracking" update most of the time honestly you're just getting lucky. You're paying for the delivery confirmation and that's about it. Even then, I've seen it take days after your package arrives at its destination before the "tracking" info updates to confirm delivery. USPS of course doesn't make most of what I've just said common knowledge....not that they're hiding anything....they just don't give a crap.

It could be the package has arrived and the "tracking" hasn't updated. Have you spoken with anyone at its destination?

Over the years I have had a couple of packages (USPS) take a slight detour, but they have always been delivered in the end. I would give it a few more days.

FedEx is a much worse choice than USPS. USPS might lose one once in a while, but FedEx routinely loses packages, delivers packages to your neighbors, can't find addresses and gives up, etc.

Here's the thing you have to keep in mind. USPS doesn't claim to track Priority Mail. It has a system that might be upgraded to tracking some day, but the current tracks are for internal purposes.

It's outsiders comparing it to UPS or other companies that claim USPS has tracking and claim it isn't effective.

I wonder why they give you a tracking number and have a place to enter it on their web site.

I had a package a few weeks ago ship from California that went to New Hampshire before coming back to me in Missouri. Why? You got me but it took a couple days longer than it should have.

I have recieved packages USPS with tracking number and the website still wasn't updated with current info two days later. UPS only for me.

Wait until you have an insurance claim. At least you will get paid by USPS.

I've said this before but if it REALLY, POSITIVELY has to get there, use registered mail.

A few weeks ago I bought a custom Saddlehorn Trapper slipjoint from Keith Johnson on this forum, and when I got the box (shipped USPS priority) it was soaked in what smelled like windex, was in a clear plastic bag and had a USPS sticker on the bag that said "Damaged in Transit". You can imagine my horror when I took the soaked box out of the bag and felt that the cardboard was soft and weak from so much liquid penetrating it.

Lucky for me Keith had wrapped the knife in plastic bubble wrap and taped it closed, so none of the liquid got to the knife.

What a joke - boy if the knife had been ruined I would have truly gone "postal".

Soaked in some type of cleaner - go figure.

But I did get it timely.
