Maybe it was the mailman? Could have signed J Jose and just kept it got back into mail truck opened it, pocketed the knife and tossed the box. It's weird thinking but could possibly happen.

We actually thought this happened in my case . I think the investigators did too after the carrier denied or lied about having anything that had to be signed for that day.

Then we started thinking ok maybe someone around the neighborhood and the carrier were in on it together because the box did say children's place on it .

Either way they have ways of finding out where the mail went . They didn't tell me the exact address of where it was delivered only the block, but I think they knew .

Update!! I went to the local post office and here's what I found out:

The mailman signed for it himself and within the same week he got fired. The postmaster called my new carrier in front of me and asked her when she get to the complex check all the boxes in case he put it some where else. He told me if nothing shows up get in touch with local law enforcement

Bitter sweet but at least you know. That's a damn shame though. They have their ways to know where stuff goes though. You may be out a knife , but the mail man committed a felony IIRC. You'll be getting the last laugh

I would bet it wasn't the regular carrier.

^ It appears, that you two are correct. I just received a phone call from Eric. He stated that he went to his USPO this morning & found out some crazy news, (to say the least).

It turns out the J Jose was a new carrier, & was filling in that day. J Jose, did indeed sign for the package. J Jose, was fired the very next day, & right now the ZT 0200 is MIA, most likely, with J Jose.

The USPS is presently working, trying to locate the package, & If I remember our conversation (Eric woke me up & it was early here on the left Coast), law enforcement is either involved, or will be.

Personally, I'm relieved that J Jose is a USPS employee/temp & is the person responsible/signed for this package, rather than some anonymous person on the street that we most likely would never be able to locate.

I'm hoping to hear an update later on today. Eric told me that he would call the minute he learned anything new.

Edit: I just noticed that Eric already updated this thread...I need to make some strong coffee & finish waking up! It's Monofletch coffee and knives time...

Huge thumbs up for both parties. Keeping your cool and getting to the bottom of this mess!
Big pat on the back for my friend Kelama!! Willing to ship Eric another knife when he wasn't at fault!!
Joe

Very nice of Kelama sending an alternative 0200. If its the one im thinking of its totally mint and awesome! Good on you Kelama.

^ Affirmative, Tom!

whomever signed for the package im sure used a fake name. The postman knows whom he delivered the package too.

^ This package was scanned on Thursday the 23rd, meaning that J Jose, was fired either the next day (Friday), or on Saturday. Keeping my fingers crossed Eric, that the USPS will be able to track this down.

I thought the USPS hiring process prevented this thing from happening.

Damn I should be an investigator lol. So this mailman J Jose actually used his real name? What a complete dip shit, hope he gets royally f**ked. All for a $135 knife.

Kelama, you are a good dude 🍻

We had a mail carrier here go breaking bad on everyone. She had terminal cancer and only had a few months to live. Started stealing all kinds of mail and ended up getting busted by the feds in a sting .

She died before she could do any time but it was a big deal around here.

^ Hopefully, J Jose, will be held accountable, in thee event that this package doesn't come back on the USPS radar.

One small update: I just finished making a phone call down to the USPO in, Titusville Florida. I spoke to super cool sounding guy (Gus), the same postal employee who assisted Eric. We spoke about the situation, & he promised to do whatever he could down on their end. He was very apologetic, & sounded genuinely unhappy with the current situation.

Hopefully, he will update Eric with some answers, soon.

Stop blowing up your building looking for a spanish guy named Jose (and stop making racist assumptions like the guy is "pretending to not know english"

That wasn't a racist comment it's true. Some Spanish people pretend not to speak English. I say learn the language or buzz off.

Not a update but just a small thank you to Kelama here on the forums. I've been on here awoke but not active the past few years due to personal drama and the military. I'm starting to become more active on the forums and decide to do a trade all goes well till this dilemma. Now let me tell you guys this man on here has been awesome and a pleasure to talk to. He's been helping me tag team the entire time and I couldn't be more grateful. He's helped me remind me that there are awesome people on the forums that care. He's a really good guy and were bound to find something out.

An update I filed a claim for mail theft with usps cooperate and patiently awaiting the mail carrier to get an update to see what to pursue from there. Also news on the Spanish man I talked to. I went to him and explain what happend and he told me when he saw me come home was in my duty uniform and he was scared of me and panicked so that relived that. Just thought y'all might get a small kick like I did. I'll keep everyone updated as it happens

^ Thanks Eric, the feelings mutual. It's been nice dealing with an easy going guy like yourself, opposed someone that would be freaking out. If this were a Hinderer, or a CRK that we've been talking about ...trust me, I'd be freaking out right now! ;)

On a much lighter note- as I stated last night, I called my very good BF amigo (Seth Green), up in mile high Colorado last night asking for some advice:

He sure wasn't much help! :D

Oh damn he thought you were there to deport him so he gives you the "no speak a da English" jive. Lol

It probably doesn't help I always have something for MP's on me even in civilian clothes haha. On the captain obvious part I needed that laugh it really helped, still no mail carrier

Absolutely !
I do it everyday. Its alot easier to politely ignore some folks for a whole host of reason.
If someones opinion is "along the lines of learn english or leave", its better for them as thats a person I wont deal with in a civil fashion anyway.
Btw, virtually everybody from Europe 50 & younger (excepting children) has at least fair command of english.
So if I "no-a speak-a" to any of you guys in person, you will know I am shamming.
But leave it there, obviously further pressing the issue is good for nobody.

But back to the missing blade, despite low success record, hope it works out right. Good luck.

Turns out the only reason it happened the way it did I was in my duty uniform scared him. I went up to hon today and just explained all what I found out then he explained on his end. It was quite funny actually

Guys I got an update! Well I met with the mail carrier and she handed me a soggy beyond belief package and explained to me some unknowns gentleman not long after I went in dropped a package off and just left without saying anything. And since I was the only one who reported stolen mail they brought it straight to me. The knife was unharmed besides a lot of surface rust, I'm assuming from all the rain we've had the past week did it. Nothing good ole elbow grease can't fix. But all in all I'm happy. I'm also happy it all ended on such good terms. Thanks everyone for the help. And to Kelama here on the forums thank you for bieng a big help and awesome guy to deal with!! Again thanks all

^Thanks for the call, & the fantastic news, Eric! Still batting a thousand with the USPS :thumbup:, although I must admit, this transaction was a close call, but in the end, a positive outcome

This situation was actually kind of a cool deal, because through all of this, Eric & I were able to get pretty acquainted with each other- he's a super nice, level headed guy!
