So I got the Utilitac II (I had to wait til Easter) My first thoughts were "Wow, now this is a beefy awesome knife". I flicked it open with a smooooth open and a nice sounding snap of the liner lock I noticed the blade and inspecting the amazingly beautiful Tanto. I took off the nylon lanyard immediately for preference reasons. I have the more square handled one, don't let "square" off set you if it does that is COMFORTABLE at least to my hands. And the little pinky choil at the end helped it perfectly lock into my hand. In the little bit I've used it so far, I prefer it over more expensive knives I've used. And for those who want to know it came exceptionally sharp, I didn't expect that level of sharpness (It's beyond shaving sharp) It may sound weird but I will give it an 11/11.

Hopefully they make a mini 3" blade version, then I'll pick one up. Looks like an amazing value.

Utilitac II is one of the best values out there. Glad you are enjoying yours.

Did you get the full grip or the coffin style?

That's what I think too, Daddyo.

I'm late to this party. My Utilitac II arrives later this week.

This knife IS one of the best values out there. I did a short review of mine in the other huge Utilitac thread. It's essentially a ZT knife on a shoestring budget.

Isn't the coffin style the one with the grooves and an indent/choil for the pinky at the end?

The part I like is that it isn't flared with Ontario logos like SOG and other companies do to knife maker's designs. The Utilitac II seems more like Ontario is producing it for Joe Pardue with his specifications.

This design is considered the coffin grip.

I have the other grip on mine, and I prefer it over the coffin. But that is the great thing about the Utilitac II: with the different blade grinds (Tanto or not, Serrations or not), coatings, and handle types, there are a bunch of ways to get this knife. I think this is unseen in any other budget folder and represents an unprecedented level of value.

Yep. They are awesome. For the price they really can't be touched as far as value for your dollar IMO.

I got the coffin handle, it fits my hands like a custom made glove.

That's what I got too. It does fill my hand pretty close to perfect! I'm thinking about getting a sheet of G10 or thin micarta and whipping up some custom scales for mine. I don't think it would be too difficult. I have actually made a few fixed blades and put handles on quite a few. Folders are a little more complicated though.

This is one of the few blades with a tanto tip that I actually really like.

I haven't found a folder that beats the Rat 1 or Utilitac2 for the money. I like the Rat 1 a bit more myself and it's my #1 edc choice. I passed these knives by many times until I finally held them and was hooked. I bought 4 Rat 1's and 2 Utilitacs. Winners.

At some point I'll probably get some other versions. But I am very content at the moment. And I want to keep it that way.
