Utilitac II = AWESOME.

I have a question since you've had yours for awhile, how is everything once it does wear in?
Well I've had two bad things happen. First was the polymer bushing got sticky. I was going to take it out, but after a few days it just got smoother. It's a high possibility something got into the bearing face, which is more likely with poly bushings.

Second is the stop pin. Mine rattles a VERY small amount. It also rotates but has caused no functional issues. Lockup is unchanged, but if i peen it somehow it will create timing inconsistencies.

Also keep in mind this knife has been pretty heavily abused. Light batoning, full on chopping, cutting through solid and mesh steels, hard stabbing, prying in excess of 20 pounds, and more. The tip on mine bent, but very lightly under incredible abuse. Even with a slightly distorted tip, it rides shotgun with me everywhere I go still.

They could heavily improve it with two simple things. G10 scales, and lose the false edge so the tip is stronger. American tantos are great cutters, but when people say the tip is stronger it's a myth, and the false edge is a major disadvantage.

They could always make the blade out of VG10, but I don't think it'd be as cheap then. :D

You've majorly abused it and it has held up better than like 95% or more of most folding knives. I don't mind the false edge, in fact I like it. But that's all in relation to use really. Hmmm it'd be interesting in VG-10. And as for G-10 scales, eh can't you find somebody to do that?

I picked one up because of this thread. I went into it thinking "I really don't like recurve, this thing is made in Taiwan, and AUS8?"

For $25 (shipped), it's really hard to find faults with this thing. Everything is solid, smooth, and yeah, this puppy came razor sharp. Granted, I still hate recurve, but I will beat the hell out of this thing without crying if anything breaks, and it doesn't feel like that's going to happen anytime soon.

I'm not big on re-curves myself but that one isn't to bad .
