Vague thoughts about a little scandi

The amount of work vectorizing those sketches is mad. Now the rough work is done and I'm going to start the fine tuning.

I also order two carbon steel slates made for Scandiground knives by Uddeholm. 0,75% and 1,0% carbon 3mm thick.

One of the reasons I enjoy scandinavian knives is the different blade shapes. All of those look great, to me at least.

Thanks! The tang is just slapped on there so its slightly of center on some and looks to tiny. I'm getting to it today. :)

I'm planing on making the tang a rather sturdy 6mm with a 3mm end the last 20mm. And make the hole thing 120mm.

Great input. I was surprised to see that the scandigrind is a relatively late thing. I was thinking of making a couple of pretty historically acculturate with a archaeological find as the inspiration. And a couple of own designs.

I'm just drawing pretty freely hopefully hitting the nail on the head.

Maybe this knife has been dated wrongly but it has the kind of ricasso I might be going for and its dated "iron age"-"medieval age" in Gällivare with should be about 1050 AC.

...

I think the alignment of the tang on this blade is very interesting. Its almost in line with the cutting edge..

5, 9, 13, 18 and 21 all stand out to me a little more than the rest I suppose....

Too many choices!

I'm thinking something like this.

What i need to get my hands on is

a long 6mm drill

Build a semi permanent bevel filing jig

Build a semipermanent vertical and horizontal knife holder.

Edit

With a regular drill the handle can be mounted in the vice under the mil at a true angle.
