In my opinion, the knife in question here is a fake. I've seen multiple counterfeit Jade PM2's sell in the last 2 weeks on the auction site (some for over $200). The one on there that ends later today is definitely a fake. The cutout in the scale for the lockbar release is shaped wrong. The jimping is wrong. Take a look at the mouth of the bug on the box, the black part is egg shaped at the top when it should be triangular. There's no foam in the box, (I guess a person could discard that) there's no desiccant pack. The list of inconsistencies is even longer.
Quick story. I recently introduced a 60 year old coworker of mine to Spyderco (now he's an addict). The other day he mentioned being paranoid about buying knives from the auction site because of the counterfeits. I have the ability to recognize a fake PM2, but now he wants some Caly 3 models. I've read that counterfeit Caly's and UKPK models exist. We shouldn't have to be paranoid buying a knife from the secondary market. This is a big problem.
