Very happy to see a new G10 Grip!!!!

Me too!!!!

I havent totally decided, but I am building my version if the 556-1. I may use the CPM-20CV blade or I may use my preference of the Ritter M390. Either way it will be on these:

With blue white racing stripes along the spine and edges. Pretty stoked about them so far.

Well, got mine from KSF today. Tried to like it, but it just didn't feel right in my hand. Opened and closed it maybe 5 times or so. No doubt a nice knife, perfectly centered with no blade play. Just not for me. Guess I'll be staying with my CRK's, ZT's, and Spyderco folders. Now listed in the exchange...

Explain a bit more? Why does it not feel right? Is it the handle thickness? I read on bm forum that the handle is slimmer, tapers a bit more.

The handle is slimmer than other Grips if memory serves. It's hard to explain exactly. I guess I'm more partial to a thinner handle thickness. It's almost like picking up a guitar with a neck carve that doesn't click with you, while other people think it's the best feeling neck they've ever played. Sorry I can't be a little clearer...

thanks. I will try to handle one in the local store first.

The 556-1 is quite sharp out of the box. Like lazer sharp. Best bechmade grind I've had and the action is butter smooth. I got a M390 project knife and the 556-1 about the same time and the difference in the action is night and day. Must be polished on the blade.

I was excited when I found out Benchmade was releasing the Grips with G10 and upgraded steel. I was on the fence as far as buying one due to the price, though. It wasn't that I didn't think the knife was worth it, just that other knives around the same price point offer more desirable materials. Anyway, I was at a local knife show today looking for some other knives and instead found this one for a deal that was too good to pass up. The Mini Grip is one of those knives that I've been wanting to get for a while but just never have, so it was a no brainer.

I do like the open back construction and the blue is really eye catching next to the gray. The colored standoffs are a trend that I hope to see continued by knifemakers.

I was deciding on whether to purchase the Ritter Griptilian or the 556-1. After much deliberation I pulled the trigger on the 556-1, which I should be receiving by Friday. I got it for a steal too, only $145 shipped.

Very excited to add it to the list of other Benchmades I own, such as the MPR and Bedlam. I've never even handled a Griptilian before, always kind of overlooked them due to their plasticky handle and okay looks. But something about the 551-1 and 556-1 jumps out at me, probably the blue/gray G-10 and awesome drop-point blade.

Just got mine. Mini with spydie hole. Great knife as is. Just about perfect. I might put a different clip on it but I might not.

I going to get a spare, it's that good.

Are the full size liners exactly the same as the originals? I notice it doesn't have the little spacer bar between the scales that the original has.

I am looking forward to the day I have the funds to go with the 550 in this configuration. One of my favorite designs and users so the new configurations is a must for me.

Just ordered the 556-BK1 and 551-BK1 directly from Benchmade, will get it next week. I'm looking forward to see what these black coated blade look like with the new G10 scales since it's not yet released to dealers and they have no pictures available >:)

did you ever get your black grips? I'm tempted by the 550BK-1 but I'm wondering if they are still using paint on these models.

Anyone know?

I wish they used a better black coating on their blades like the M4 Ritter with DLC...

For those that emailed me about Gavins clip I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Here is his email and encourages contact. He is a great guy to deal with and responds ALOT quicker than I do:o:D
