Very PECULIAR situation-your opinions please

Frankly it was the blatent Anti-American tone that ticked me off a bit. IMHO. I speak no diff. to women than i do men to pass judgment otherwise is just foolish as she claimed "We Americans do", Nor do I knock our customs officals or that of any country, for they work a hard and potentially hazardous job so to refer to them as "stupid" and such is probably not necc.. I am also fairly confident that my Govt. will not let anything into the states that will be harmful to my nether regions upon contact so to mock the US's Govt. policys(weither Patriot act or any other) probably also not needed? Just my opinion I understand a person has the right to do so?....But was it in good taste from a long time valuble contributor? really? OK.. :-). Hence the return of the sterotyping in JEST of course. Perhaps these were just said in the haste of the moment, and if so, I understand and my apologies...otherwise.... :-) Back to the original topic at hand please.

The Cold War was a very real part of my life, and I have since adopted a little boy from Siberia 6 years ago. I have pieces of the Berlin Wall mounted with East German currency and have collected USSR currency to show him someday.

From your avatar, I would suspect you are a bit too young to remember 1968 and the changes that went on in Czechslovakia then. The people I met from Prague were neat and very dissatisfied with being a Soviet satellite.Did not think I would live to see the day the Berlin Wall came down- was afraid the bad old days of the Soviets would decay into what North Korea has become. It does feel good to have outlived that period and look back on relics of it.

I feel badly that your e-mails were somehow lost- all of this could have been avoided had they come. I bear you no ill will. This was posted, with no names, to get feedback on a situation I had never encountered.

I would be happy to settle the matter amicably :I would be happy to buy the coins and reimburse you your postage costs.

It is good to see that the two parties involved can conduct themselves in an honorable manner, at last. It's a real shame that things got as ugly as they did. Simona is a valued contributor to the Spyderco forum. It has been embarrassing to read of her being her treated with such disrespect. A real all time low for some.
 
We aren't going to admonish anyone here for calling another member a bitch, or , as applied to a male, an ***hole. For the most part, those words by themselves don't generate much response by most folks. I didn't admonish nifrand for his use of the B word, as I wouldn't admonish anyone else either.

However, had the word been used in a different way, such as in a string of nasty words,leading into a flame fest against someone, then action would be taken no matter who it was. Nifrand called Simona a bitch way before he even knew who she was, so there was no predjudice or malice intended towards Simona at all.

As far as cronyism here at BFC, yes, there is to a certain extent, just as it occurs in the real world. The moderator staff here at BFC do cover each others back for the most part. We try our best not to show favoritism, but we are human.

Let's get back to the subject at hand, please.

Its not easy decision adopt chidren, i can imagine..

Yes, cold war and communist era is really dark part of history, im glad, that i musnt live now in some communist crappy state, all is changed, peoples are changed, freedom is here and its mostly important.
But im very well informed, about communist era, yes, you are right, i dont remember 1968, i was born 1977, but when i was at college, i wrote work "Communist laws and individual human - like a victim of these laws", (probably its bad translated, im sorry) so i have a lot of infos about communist era and 1968 and from following times and i know what about you are talking ...

Sometime, from interest, im visiting strange places from communist era, like HERE
Its very big contrast between present life, between modern buildings, modern shopping centers and etc. when you visit these strange places, now forsaken..

And if someone mentioned here something about anti-american, i can repeat, that these laws, yes, laws, customs are working by laws, so i used wrong words... this american laws are stupid, and if you are not able recognize sarcastic or funny point (toilet paper), its your thing. :) Yes, its stupid, that not valid silver coins you cannot send--read up, what i wrote, i can repeat you, i have not prob.

Ok, back to topic, im really sad, for this unhappy situation, what happened, but i hope, all things will solved ok and we stay tuned :)

Hi Folks,
I am fairly new to BF, and I have read this thread in it's entirety. First, I would like to express that I think that both Mike and Simona are both stand up people, and that their situation is being rectified. Excellent!
I do, however, feel that Simona is owed an apology for the "bitch" remark- regardless of the point in time it was said, or the context delivered. She deserves more respect than that. No offence or prejudice- just my opinion.

My Grandfather and many relatives were born in Holland...(Dutchy wutchy). :D . I've never heard of babblefish until now. :p
