VG-10 Fans?

Love it for the same reasons often used with VG-10:
Very good edge retention, ease of sharpening, good corrosion resistance.
I would take it over ZDP-189 any day of the week.
IMHO the best value in knife steels.

Its great on toast :p

It is a good steel, Iv not got any complaints I can think of

Great for kitchen knives like the Shun and for field knives like Fallkniven S-1.Holds edge well, easy to sharpen !

Its a great steel....

Got a SOG Tomcat III with a hollow-ground VG-10 blade.

Its a razor...

Most of my Spydercos are VG-10 its an awesome steel in every aspect and usually comes in at a decent price.

I'm a fan for all the good reasons listed above. Of all the steels I've used, it's the most balanced and (for me) practical.

Another vote for top steel. Got some in Spydercos, Fallkniven, and Seki-Cut paring knives, and it's top shelf. Easy to get toothy or mirrored, so really versatile.

My absolute favorite, non-carbon steel for a folder (Spyderco), and when laminated (Fallkniven), it makes a great steel for a fixed blade, too!

I like it because the two companies that made mine (Mcusta and Hattori)
know how to make good use of it... thin stock and great grinds.

They cut like the dickens. :D

Big fan here:thumbup:

1.Easy to sharpen razor sharp.
2.Holds an edge very well(better than most of same grade ss)
3.Never had a problem with corrosion.
4.Doesn't cost as much as the higher end steels.IMO could be compared to 154CM @ almost 1/2 the cost most of the time.
5.Almost as good as S30V with the exception of edge retention.

A great all-rounder. Excellent edge holding and easy sharpening. Takes a wicked fine edge. Might be my favorite Stainless steel.

VG10 is one of the best all around cutlery steels IMO. It may not be the best in any one category but it's near the top of the pack in all of them. A very well balanced steel that I probably carry on a daily basis more than any other high end stainless. For my typical uses it grades out higher than 154cm/ats34. To me, it's below BG42,SG2 and ZDP or S90V. Not as wear resistant as S30V, but easier to sharpen, and it takes a better edge. In the same class as S30V though IMO. Joe
