VG-10 Fans?

The downside of VG10 is that it's a Japanese steel. IIRC the manufacturer will only sell it for knives that are actually made in Japan.

Why do you consider that a downside?

Japan is a premier knife making country.
Very little, if any, poor quality or inconsistent knives emanate from there.

That cannot be said of many countries now a days. :(

Its my favorite steel for an EDC for the reasons stated above. My favorite knives are in VG-10 (Delica and Endura 4)

Perhaps he meant he feels, like I do, that it's a downside in that we'll never see a VG-10 bladed, Benchmade Axis lock knife, or a VG-10 bladed Buck 110, or a VG-10 bladed CRK Sebenza, or VG-10 bladed Spyderco Military, or a........you get my point. Some people, like me, would love to see VG-10 used on American made classics like the knives I just mentioned. You shouldn't jump to the conclusion that Fzen's comment was a knock on Japanese manufacturing.;)

I am a fan of VG10 especially in my Serrated Police because it is easy to touch up those serrations and in my Spyderco Yang kitchen knife.

I like all the mid grade stainless ,they are in many ways a better choice for cutlery than
the super stainless. I also like 440C on knives where a nice polish and corrosion resistance is more important than ease of sharpening.
