VG-10 Fans?

Good all-around steel:

1. Good edge retention
2. Easy to sharpen
3. GOOD corrosion resistance

Holds and takes a good edge. Easy to sharpen. Good stain resistance. Bought my wife a Fallkniven kitchen knife in VG10. Now my expensive kitchen knives have been laid to rest.

Forgot to mention my Mcusta Damascus & Browning Icestorm(made by Mcusta) both use VG-10,& are superb slicers.

Kershaw's Lahar folder (Tim Galyean design) is probably one of THE best deals going right now for a VG-10 bladed folder! It has an MSRP of $99, but sells for around $65-70. Like many Spydercos, this is way too great of a deal to pass up, IMHO, if you want to try out VG-10, but don't want to spend a fortune to do so!

Kershaw's Gent's Folder, also with VG-10, is no slouch either.

I have both knives, as well as about 25, VG-10 bladed Spydercos. VG-10 is my favorite steel for folders. I like and own several knives in S30V, but I actually prefer VG-10 for daily use.

Bro---It was made in Seki City Japan. That's all I know. Gary at Moore Cutlery, might have additional information. Thanks.

I like VG10 a whole lot better than s30v. VG10 takes a ton less work to get a take a good edge or keep the edge. I like A2 better but carbon steel is a whole different world of maintenance; I admittedly don't dry my folders as diligently as I do fixed blades.

The downside of VG10 is that it's a Japanese steel. IIRC the manufacturer will only sell it for knives that are actually made in Japan.

My first venture into knifedom was an A2 mini-canadian and a VG10 S1. I found both very easy to get shaving sharp. Much easier than my 154CM knife. I like S30V, too, on my Native.
