Charles, Do you know how the "bird's eye" pins were made? Was it by hand? Wasn't this before "spun" pins?

In short no, I don't. I've got a few pearl knives with them, but so far my research has not provided much on the history of these smaller birds eye pins with pearl knives.

Kelly-How-Thompson Co (1902-1947), hardware firm in Duluth, Minn. Levines IV: knives made by Napanoch. This one is in near-mint condition with the master blade etched <Hickory> with same tang mark. Smaller blades marked Kelly S. Thompson. Charles

Thanks, I bought that one as a figural, but it is really a neat lobster and the detail in the high top shoes is special. Here is a more traditional sleeveboard (but with very little taper) by Robeson. Milled brass liners and little used, has a name engraved on the scales. Charles

Hi Charles. Any idea when that one was made? I spent my teenage years in Utica (I hope it's older then I am!) and feel a connection to the brand. It's one of the few old knife manufacturers still in business in New York State.
