Vintage teardrop jacks!

Brisket, that cocobolo #85 is a stunner!! The wood is outstanding. I had a cocobolo #85 that I sold about a year and a half ago. I really missed it, regretting that decision almost daily. Found another one this past January and pounced (it's the one one the first page). Now, I have to honestly say, if some cruel person said "get rid of 'em all except one". My #85 would be the one.

Yours is great.... Do you carry it often?
Peter

Thanks Peter, the cocobolo 85 is still a safe queen at this point as is my primitive bone harness jack but I do carry my ebony, burnt stag and green briar jigged bone 85's regularly.

Wow wow wow on that cocobolo 85!! Very nice. I am currently waiting on a delivery, but will post pics soon of my expanding teardrop collection. This just may be my favorite pattern of all.
B.

Thanks, looking forward to seeing yours. If I had to proclaim a favorite pattern it just might be mine as well.

Brisket, nice comparison shot. I like the size on that S&M. I wish the 85 had a slightly larger version like that.

Well, I apologize for the lack of quality photo, but I wanted to do a teardrop family photo now that the one at top showed up today.

Not sure how I have missed this thread before but thought I would add a picture of my old EC Simmons and Crucible here

Here are some Schrade Cut Cos. Two are the full size 3 5/8" long, and one at 3 3/8". I love the proportions on the smaller jack - it hits the knifely sweet-spot!!

The middle knife has older jigging, closer to WWI. The other two are later, closer to WWII.

Pistonsandgears, that crucible almost made me pass out!

Baldy, that's a gorgeous collection! What model is the new one?

Charlie, would you possibly consider adopting me? Please? I'll help out with chores and I can even cook!

Thanks P&G, Dan and Mark. Glad you like them.
I love this old pattern. It takes finesse to haft/finish one, and they take a little more material than a straight Jack. Probably why they disappeared for a while.

This thread is full of old Beauties!

Baldy, that's a gorgeous collection! What model is the new one?

Thanks! The top one is the first old new knife in my collection; it is a Hollinger out of Fremont Ohio. The main blade is really snappy, but the secondary is not so great. Really dig it anyway.

Here is an old Schrade I picked up the other day.

Damn Evan, colour me jealous! I've been looking for an ebony teardrop with a propeller shield for ages! I've been hoping GEC would male one, but it looks unlikely.

I'm with Dan, is there any chance of it being the basis for an original "Esnyx?"
