Viper Fortis

There are some voids in the CF on mine in two places. There were also a few exposed burrs on the CF on the interior of the scale when I first got it. Cheaper CF will have voids like this so again, kind of makes sense with the price. Although I do see them for $200 on GP Knives, so maybe the initial $163 was a mistake?

Yeah that is pretty curious. Interestingly the Kyomi is cheaper on GP Knives while the Odino is more expensive compared with Collector Knives. Maybe Viper doesn't do MAP pricing and vendors have more flexibility in setting their prices?

The ti and cf versions of the Kyomi are on sale at GPKnvives. Was listed at a higher price a couple months ago.

I just got my Viper Fortis CF/Satin. Nice, trim, slim and light. Sharp and centered blade. Opens nicely via flipper or blade hole. Not the strongest detent but not weak either. Put a drop of Nano-oil on the detent ball to make it go smoother. Probably needs a couple of hundred open/close cycles. Definitely prefer it over my Viper Kyomi and Odino also in CF/Satin but wish the blade length was just 3 inches. No issue with blade tip protruding and lockup. Best clip of all three.

Here are pictures of Fortis, Kyomi and Odino:

Nice pics!

Nice!

Ram, could you show the width of each side-by-side?

I think you mean handle thickness because handle width is already there. Blade is narrower, handle is narrower and thinner. Skinny Fortis in the middle! :)

My Satin/CF Fortis weighs 4.03 ounces and blade length is 3.45 inches! Odino & Kyomi Satin/CF weigh 4.42 & 4.29 ounces respectively even though the blade is shorter than Fortis.

Fortis handle thickness is just 0.442" versus 0.514" on Odino and 0.510" on Kyomi.

Fortis closed width (excluding flipper tab) is 1.370" versus 1.464" on Odino and 1.458" on Kyomi.

I'm enjoying it, I really like the size and slim profile of the knife. Here's the full crew with the Viper Italio and Giant Mouse in there just for comparisons.

My Ti Fortis is stuck in shipping @ JFK.

I dig that Odino pocket clip.

Pocket clip on the Odino was my favorite of the group. Others complained it wasn't strong enough but for me it worked beautifully and was a deeper carry too.

How do you like the Italo? I've been back and forth on that one and ended up ordering a Fortis instead. Still kinda like the Italo though it has a very unusual look to it.

Yeah I find the Odino clip a bit weak for my tastes.
What do you think of the Italo? I was looking at the carbon fiber frame lock version. Watched a couple vids. Seems like there's been scant little discussion of that model on the forums. It appears that the opening hood also functions as a wave opener though I'm not sure if that was intentional.

Thanks for this comparison......It confirms for me why I prefer the looks of the Mouse compared to the Vipers.

As for the Odino at the bottom, must be the angle because the photo makes it look fat.....er, wide. :-)

All are excellent knives but none will be kicking the GM out of my pocket anytime soon. That knife is darn near perfect for what I need it for.

Those asking about the Italo, it is an awesome knife but doesn't have that sleekness that the Vox designs do. It is built like a tank but at the same time looks rather classy. I normally love wire clips but on this knife I don't. It is just too big a knife to pull off a wire clip. Love the blade shape though, and intended or not the thumb ramp/thumb top works awesome as a wave opener.

The Mouse really is awesome. I can't wait for the GM2.

I was considering this and hearing the detention is light dissuades me and the pocket clip is atrocious so I'm gonna hold off.
