Visalia Hammer-In

Looks like you guys had a great time! I`m hoping that many people show up at my get together in May.

Wow, I'm envious! A chance to meet you guys, play with the toys and get to see Koyote Girl's pink shoelaces in person, all in one shot - Priceless! :D

Remember that most of us have never met in person, so we don't know who's who in a group picture. It would help to label them or at least do a left to right description.

Here's my best guess-

Yes, no? And maybe fill in the blanks?

haha.. very cool Doc...

the gentlemen to my left, your right, is my father in law Al... a.k.a. Gearman79 on another forum...

not named from L to R.. ABS mastersmith Mike Vagnino and Lambertaina's oldest son Pat...

Okay, Doc- guess who the guy on the far left with the ABS cap on is :D

Christof, do you know how old my eyes are? I can't make out what's on his hat. :(

Also, at one time I had a Bear's Den hat - didn't make me a bear. (The Bear's Den was a archery-only bear hunting camp in Northern Ontario - Caramat)

Turned out to be an AWESOME hammer-in!

A BIG thanks again to Mark for opening his shop to us, to his wife for making some AWESOME Chili, to all the makers who were willing to share there knowledge, and to Lambertiana for some good backpacking conversation.

I learned a ton about the heat treating process, Mark was probably sick of me following him around like a puppy asking him questions about "what about this, what about that", etc.

Anyways, here are a couple of in progress pics of the collaboration knife we got started. It still needs to be cleaned up, a final edge put on, handles, and a sheath.

I really enjoyed having all of you and I don't mind trying to answer questions to the best of my knowledge. Besides MS Mike Vagnino was there so if the questions were out of my league I could always say "see that guy in the ABS cap? he knows more than me! " :D

...and speaking of Mike, I saw him tonight and he said that if we do this again, he would "do something" which I take to mean a demonstration! So we will have to do this again, maybe this fall...

Still smiling.... I have not had that great a time in a while. Thanks again guys.

I know I still am! and Mike Vagnino was too when I saw him tonight! I think the WS&S crowd was very well represented and I would be happy to do it again...might be a good excuse to "collect" another grinder, so we would have two grinders to go with the two forges and anvils! Lord knows I need another reason to buy more tools! :p
