Vital Gadgets & Gear To Have On You At All Times

Prepping is something we all do to some extent even
in our house hold shopping.
I have a TOOL box in my home and one in every vehicle.
If I can get to my tools I can get just about what ever I need.

I have quite a few tools, but I could definitely stand to improve and purchase more for sure!

Wow Blade Girl, you generate a lot of interest on your threads. :D I just noticed this one but have not waded down all the posts as of yet an since I go to the Gadgets & Gear forum pretty regular, I figure this one must have been moved from elsewhere. Anyway....

I am a SAK guy. I love my Vic SAK Adventurer model (111 mm) with the side lock. It always works and has the basic set of tools that I use with some regularity. It is basically a Tinker but larger. I find the longer blade to be very useful, long but not too long.

If you talk about what I limit to my person, I carry two knives (SAK and ZT 0770CF) [sometimes a large slipjoint GEC #42 and a small sak + the ZT or Spyderco Native], smartphone, keys, often a firearm, bic lighter, cash, cards (including an Walmart gift card with about $100 on it for emergencies), and of course wallet and ID and so forth. If for some reason I add a small bag (511 type bag), there will be a flashlight, camera, and often my tablet computer as well as anything I think I might need for the day. I don't really think in terms of carrying everything on my person as I am usually attached to a vehicle.

But if I am out and about in my vehicle, I will have my tablet computer with me, smart phone, SAK, money, keys, even some paracord like yours, a couple flash lights including a head mouted one. (You just can't have too many unless you are carrying them on your person.) I also usually have a change of clothes, tennis shoes in addition to what I am wearing, cold weather stuff in the winter, shovel, blanket, usually granola type bars, water, more knives, and an assortment of tools if I am on the job like a recip saw and drill and blades/nut driver bits.

Hey..just now saw your comment. Thanks so much. I have a few SAK's myself...but I appreciate all sorts of knives...folding, fixed, etc.

6 pages of knife guys and no one carries band aids?? I carry all the usual

- .45 sub compact Glock
- extra mags
- flashlight extra batteries
- a fixed and a couple folders
- Lighter
- Water purification tabs
- assortment of Band aids and I carry a full trauma kit in each vehicle and in my personal bag with a couple packs of Quik Clot
- watch
- Multi tool
- granola bars and a couple of the Mountain House MRE's
In all honesty Ive had a need for band aids SEVERAL times...

Good stuff!!!!! Thanks so much for the additional information and thoughts! Yes, I have been out of bandaids...and then needed them. When I have them, i don't need them..when I don't have them, I need them..you know how that goes! LOL

Love it.
Nice little layout you got there! Thanks for sharing!

Don't fret, Otter. King George died a long time ago, and who cares about Parliament anymore? :)

:D:D

This is my EDC:

-Gun with spare mag
-TK-4 tourniquet. I'm working on a better EDC trauma kit, but at least this is something. I have a lunch box size kit in my car.
-Light and secondary light
-Multitool and a knife. (These always change.)
-Spare batteries for primary light and cell phone.
-Two bobby pins in my wallet. These have come in handy more than once, for myself and friends. They weigh nothing. Use honor code;).
-Cash. It is a goods/ services and barter/ trade tool. Pretty basic, and very useful.

Thanks for the others who posted, I really enjoy looking. All my items, except the firearms, were purchased or traded for on this site, for < 40 % retail cost, otherwise I could not afford them.

Very nice treeshaker...thanks for posting..NICE STUFF!

Speaking of tools, I'll be adding a milling machine (with 3 axis digital readout) and lathe to my garage soon.

And a 1.5hp 2x72 grinder.

The ONLY bad thing is that if you have your car key on that chain, it will wear out your ignition switch on your vehicle..happens all the time. The weight of it all is really bad for it. The same is true for people who have tons of keys on one keychain... Unless you just keep your car key on a separate chain. The chain your car key is on should be as light as possible. Aside from all that..very nice! :) And thank you so much for sharing your photo!

Thank you for this! I've often wondered about that....lost the use of my ignition a number of years back. All my EDC stuff was on my key chain, both for ease of carry and as a defensive flail. I was never able to associate the weight with the ignition loss; but it made me wonder, and I separated the car keys after that. It was really chewed up...I couldn't get my key out, and had to be towed. They had to pull and replace the whole ignition cylinder.

You have a great EDC collection, Blade Girl! If I may ask, what kind of flashlight is that? In addition to being a knife knut, I am also a flashoholic!

Have you ever seen the County Com website? They have some cool and unique EDC stuff.

I just added a small pair of bogata-style lockpicks to my edc. I don't intend to do anything naughty with them, of course, but I thought they could come in handy. I've been practicing on padlocks I have around the house.

No frills body armor. Level 2 Kevlar and front/back 10x13 AR500 steel plates with splatter/spall mitigation.

My two main groups of essentials.

Thank you so much for sharing these with all of us. These are very nice EDC photos..I also LOVE EDC stuff! I have a few EDC photos myself. I recently purchased a really nice orange flashlight (in all of my EDC photos under photo album here ... it is a L10C. Here, I'll share it in this post so you can see. I LOVE Orange and Camo/Olive Drab! Thank you again. Your photos and your stuff is VERY nice and helpful. I also would like your thoughts on something. I recently purchased four Case Knives (awaiting the delivery), one OPINEL (blue), and a few others, including a sweet looking Ka-Bar fixed blade with sheath. I also purchased a leg holster for fixed blades because I hike a lot and do a lot of outdoor things (any thoughts on a good one, please let me know. I could only find one on Amazon that did not have a gun slot. Please do not leave a link here, but just tell me the name to google if you know) Among the others (knives) were some Rough Riders. Now, they are cheap, but I was told that for cheap knives, they are very good by several Blade Forum members. They look like very nice knives, and I didn't get the cheapest of the cheap..I would not get any that had fake materials or the like. Have you heard anything on these particular knives? If so, thoughts?

I have multi quoted because I literally just happened to post to someone else about my flashlight! <big smile> No, I have not..but rest assured, since you mentioned, I will now check it out! :-) No problem on the car key thing. I was with a manager and leading tech of an automotive place who fixed cars for over seven years, so I learned a few things. Otherwise, I would not know either! Now, I keep separate keychains. :-)

I keep this under the bed for my own peace of mind. Helps me sleep better. If I have an Iraq nightmare, it's comforting to find this within reach.

Make sure you post pics when you get this..Love seeing this stuff out in the wild.

I have the milling machine, a lathe and the 2x72 grinder that I built from aluminum.

Of course..These are not essential EDC stuff as I doubt anyone has the giblets to pack around a 1.5ton machine..But I do EDC a Lrg. Sebenza 25 daily.
No room in my pockets for anything else though..Drives me nuts to carry too much.
