Gals & Guys,

I have been wondering about this aspect of the CURRENT Knife Knut population here at BF for a while now and don't believe I recall seeing an actual breakdown here on the types of knives we of the real knife carrying population have on our person in our daily routine.

What TYPE of FOLDING, RETRACTABLE or FIXED blade knife finds its way into your pocket or on your person MOST or the MAJORITY of the time on average??

For example: I myself love traditional Slipjoints pocket knives. That is the TYPE of pocketknife that I EDC the MOST these days!.

.. However, way back when for a time, I had been known to carry an Automatics and/or a Switchblades. But, currently Id have to honestly answer this question with a VOTE on the Poll for:

Traditional Slipjoint Pocket Knife

Whats yours?? Please VOTE the POLL and post a comment if you like. :)

I guess Opinel would fall under Traditional, but a slipjoint it isn't. Lately, however, I've been carrying around a Steel Warrior peanut. Disappears into that fifth pocket and I can't even tell that it's there till I need it.

Ahh, whatever. +1 Traditional Slipjoint Pocket Knife

I probably carry more Liner locks than anything. Back Locks second and frame locks third. This is just because I have more liner locks than other types by a slight margin. The only slip joint I have is my Orange Urban which I carry in my rotation. Except on rare occasions I usually carry one to two different knives per week. The current exception is one of my two Orange Militarys which has been in my pocket for going on 3 weeks now. I only have a few "tactical" type knives in my rotation unless you consider many Spydercos tactical. I have a handful of ZT's (I suppose these are tactical) but they don't see as much carry as my Spydercos. I also have a couple of the Mcusta Tactility models but they too are not really tactical to me. I also have several regular Mcustas and Seki Cuts which certainly are not tactical by any stretch. As far as the Spyderco's, I like to consider those just very apt EDC's rather than tactical. And the only coated blade knives I own anymore are the ZT's, minus the ZT0200KW I have.

One hand locking pocket knife

OR

Sodbuster. :p

Mmm...sodbuster...

I've been hoping to pick up one of those Case yellow-handled CV ones. They look so darn functional. Nothing like a quality, traditional design that's meant for some good ol' fashioned hard work.

I carry all kinds of folders but in order of frequency

1- Slippys
2- One handed liner locks / framelocks
3- Lock back ( Buck 110)

mostly either a frame or liner lock. though i do have a spyderco jd smith i like to carry.

i have very recently started carrying a slippie as well.

you shoulda put a poll in this thread.

(now its there, vote cast)

How's that giant sodbuster treating you? It looks really nice.

I carry a slipjoint and a one-handed locking knife. But I wouldn't consider the locking knife tactical (BM710).

I've carried Bali or Butterfly type gravity knife as well as Fixed Blade push daggers in my pockets before as edc but I switched to carrying normal lockbacks after a while since it was less stress to worry about after a few encounters with police...

When ever I go down to compton/into LA though I carry a push dagger on me + have a gun at arms reach though...

You want Speed-safe or assisted opening in "locking tactical" or automatic? What about those of us who always carry at least two knives? I'm ZDP-Leek/SAK guy.

Fixed blades rule. 98% of the time I have one or two on me.(voted for that one)

Although I do carry a SAK as well.:)

Been known to add a vintage slipjoint to my carry from time to time.:)

And I do carry a Kershaw Zing at work.

So maybe I am just afraid of commitment?:D

it is very nice, but actually not that large. at least compared to my other folders. its about the size of a s.a.k.

the alsdorf in the pic is little, so by comparison the sodbuster looks huge.

I carry a fixed, one handed opening folder, and a SAK. I voted for the fixed because that's the one I'd choose if I had to choose one.

That's not fair; not every (not most, as a matter of fact) one-hander is tactical.

I believe he is just using the terminology as a generalization. It's kind of like how people label black rifles "assault weapons". Maybe we should coin the phrase "assault knives".
