I was going to wait until I actually got this hot little number in my hands before posting anything up but, as usual, my determination and resolve are lacking. ;)

A while back Enrique Pena and and I got to talking while he was trying to come up with a new idea for a pattern to challenge himself with.

I asked him if he had considered a stock knife and gently suggested that I might be interested in one if he chose to build one.

Enrique replied that he had been thinking about building one and so decided that this would be a good opportunity to try his hand at creating a three bladed knife.

What you see below is a 4" stockman with Enrique's jigged and dyed bone.

Stats:
Pattern: Stockman
Length: 4" Closed
Steel: CPM-154 @ 59 Rc
Scales: Pena Jigged & Dyed Bone
Construction: Integral: 410 stainless liners/bolsters
All three blades feature bushings
Shield: Double Pinned, 410 Stainless
Weight: 3 3/8 oz.

I'll post additional impressions and comments upon its arrival but welcome your thoughts and impressions while we wait.
(FWIW, Enrique mentioned to me on the phone that in his opinion it's the best knife he's ever built. Judging by the body of his work that's really saying something special!)

Stunning!

If I didn't know better, I would think Enrique had been making three bladers for years.

Looks like nothing short of a masterpiece!

Man,he's good!Congrats on this score.Intregal and bushings.The springs look like a solid piece.Wow!

Oh my goodness! Integral liners and bushings on all blades?! That thing is built like a tank!
It's of course a beautiful knife ( I especially like the swedges!) but the skill to make a three bladed knife like that must be respected.:thumbup:

Elliott...

One beautiful knife that you have coming...and I agree it looks like he's been building three bladed knives for years....

Congratulations, both to you and Enrique. It looks to be an outstanding knife in all regards!

Very nice Elliott  He really does outstanding work. The jigging and dying is very nicely done...

fantastic knife in the mainstream of cutlery history but the bone is the real ambrosia. looks like some of the ole timey greats. thanks elloitt--dennis

Thanks for the comments, fellas.

A couple, three years ago I remember having a conversation with Bill Ruple who asked me if I knew Enrique. I told him (at the time) that we had not yet met but I was familiar with some of his work.
Bill went on to state that Enrique was "the real deal". He wasn't kidding.

Wow!! That is a spectacular piece, and as mentioned the swedges stand out with the fantastic bone, and nice touch on the pinched bolsters too!

Enrique does jigged bone like NO OTHER I have ever seen and that IS Faboulous!!!
That is a STUNNNER for a first time try judging by the pics!!;)

You Both done good!! :)

Fantastic-that is a great looking stockman!!! I really like the pen blade-nice choice:thumbup:

Elliott, that is absolutely beautiful!! Congrats!! I would be excited too. I asked Enrique to do a three blade for me as well when my name comes up next. Haven't heard back from him since I asked, but after seeing this I think he should be up for it.

Excellent knife, Elliott and Mr. Pena.

Everything about the knife is exquisite, but I especially like your choice of the pen blade.

Oh man Elliot, serious envy here at the edge of the flint hills. The bone is great. All the blades too. I love the fact it has that stubby looking pen blade. Asombroso Senor Pena!!!

Definetly a slipjoint maker to keep your eye on. If that ornery South Texan Ruple gives him a thumbs up, that's saying something.
Greg

^ Yep. I love the pen blade as well, and integral with bushings? Just... wow. Drool

Glad you guys like the pen blade. I had discussed that with Enrique and told him that since my dog was already neutered and I had no intention of turning the knife on myself, something along the lines of a nicely swedged pen/spear blade would be just the ticket. I left the design to Enrique's imagination and creativity.
