Spontaneously, I 'd say I love Winterbottom, but I don't have any, then solid one color micarta, burlap, linen, muslin. (Charlie, don't show that Westinghouse, please, be sensible!)
All the more when color is out of the ordinary.


A second thought would be a Normand's answer. I dig any knife showing alchimy between handle material and shape/pattern.
Like Rogers bone on Winchesters.

Scavenged wood is my favorite material for my own amateur/hack re-handle jobs:

I haven’t had time to do one in a while, but I have some parts laying around and always have an eye out for odd bits of wood to use.

Most excellent, Brian!! My favorite handle material for Traditionals would have to be Ebony, followed VERY closely by a fun acrylic, to the point where if I was at a knife show and the same knife was sitting there in both covers, I'd have to absolutely suck it up and leave with them both so I didn't have to make a hard decision. Pictures to come today.

I think my overall favorite would be stag. Here’s the only example I have.

If I’m rehandling a knife, my favorite is probably paper Micarta. Here’s an example of that.

Picking an all time favorite is hard. I like them all. I suppose for durability and aesthetic appeal i'd have to go with nice gnarly stag for my pick.

I love me some rag micarta. I have seen some great Fordite I like, just not on a knife I like. I casually keep my eye out for something that suits on both counts.

I'll join. My favorite handle material...that's a hard one. It'd be a toss up between wood and bone. But I'll be a little bit of an odd one and say I actually prefer cocobolo over ebony. I know I know blasphemy many. But ebony can be a little boring sometimes.

Buuuut if it's jigged I'll always pick bone.

For many years Desert Ironwood was my favorite especially on a fixed blade knife and now its a toss up between Ebony and just about any flavor Jigged Bone
