Wal Mart Native!

What always bugged me was customers calling me at the last real plant nursery in town, asking how to mix or apply products they bought at Wal Mart. We found a solution to that - we went out of business. I don't know who they call now, because no one at our Wal Mart can tell them anything. But they do have the Native there!:D
Are you absolutely sure they bought their stuff at Wal-Mart? Were they actually brazen enough to say that? Are there no Home Depot, Lowes, K-Mart, Sears, or TrueValue Hardware stores near you? No chain supermarkets with "nursery" departments? As an apartment dweller, my need for gardening supplies is virtually non-existant, but at least in this area, the help in any of them is equally uninformed about most of the other products they are selling, so I assume those working the nursery department are equally clueless.

Sorry your place went out of business, but once again, it was people's decision on where to purchase that caused that, not the mere existence of Wal-Mart or any of the other discounter.

nvest in a science/math based education for the children..

Sorry that's not a guarantee, India has a very effective educational system in math and science.

Maybe John Q Public would like a product that doesn't need to be send back and forth?

At least John Q Public has the option to send it back and forth. I've had to send my NIB Native III in, and my LNIB Manix in. Amanda helped me greatly. Except for a small mixup, my experience with the warranty dept has been superb. If I didn't have so many knives, specifically Spyderco knives already, I would have bought one of the Natives and sent it in to be tightened up.

Spyderco will take care of you and your knife.

Hey good point, they also have to deal with an outdated caste system, outdated infrastructure, and the second most overpopulated country in the world. Yet I believe the term "outsourcing" should be considered here. :p

No science/math doesn't turn around a country in 5 years it takes longer as momentum is built up...or momentum is lost...lost like here in the good old USA. :( Afterall, I heard roughly 80% of the world's scientist are now in "ASIA". Will that make the countries of Asia more advanced than "US" next year? No but it is indeed a wake up call for our children/grandchildren.

I refuse to buy a Walmart Native! They keep employee's at just under 40 hours per week, so they don't have to pay for their insurance. They come into an area with low prices, and after they have wiped out the Moms & Pops, they slowley raise the prices. Low wages for employee's! Subsidies! A 10 BILLION dollar profit, last year alone! Here's a link; http://www.hel-mart.com/docs/goodjo...df?PHPSESSID=8512d0c69013f3415db684dee7b9a1bd

I will only shop there if I have to! Maybe once a month. Walmart SUCKS!!!

Once a month? to a store you hate? If you think they are that bad, why do you go there at all? Why not pay more money to get what you need somewhere else?

Wow ten billion dollars in profit...maybe I should invest in some stock.

Funny a lot of other corporations who utilize unskilled labor also keep most employees under 40 hours per week to avoid "extra" expenses. Fast Food and most other restaurants come to mind, as well as several grocery chains. But I guess it is all Walmarts fault  :jerkit:

Flatgrinder - that's the reason places like Walmart get their stuff from CHina, teh Chinese economy pulls in teh US deficit, and local jobs that support highways, schools, and other jobs go away - all we want is stuff at a good price, with no thought about the opther guys.

For what it's worth, you can also get the Delica, VG-10 or Aus-6, FRN or SS scales, at walmart.com. All combinations show country of origin "imported".

its a cycle we put ourselves on-

as our corrupt govt paid more and more companies to move to china and build the economy of a commie nation-we lost decent paying jobs-so now money is tight and you have to save a buck becuase all your taxes have gone up and up while your pay goes down and down -

so places like walmart buy more and more stuff made in china to keep a low price and that in turn makes more companies go to china and set up shop-
add in the major problem with the price of basic health care in america-and you can see why we HAVE to try and save a buck -

i dont blame walmart or mcdonalds-i blame myself for electing people over the last 30 years who did not give one shit about america -

I picked one up while on the road somewhere in Georgia.
It is the least expensive knife I own now, but easily one of the best. What a chunky piece of S30V!
I actually like the inch or so that sticks out of my pocket. I work in a rough nieghborhood and prefer it to be obvious that I'm carrying. Regardless, there is no silver (or anything reflective) on the part that shows, just pure black. Anyway, I have a light beard and I had an annoyingly painful hair or two growing right at the corner of my mouth while on the road & I had nor razor or tweezers on me. The native is so sharp it just sliced them off clean. This thing is a scalpel! I thought I'd never find a blade sharper than my VG-10 blades.
I'm also in love with the swedge. It's just sucha asexy knife. This is my first Sypdie with a handle material other than stainless, actually this is my first knife with a handle other than Micarta, G10, titanium or stainless.
I was skeptical, now I'm a beliver.
Sorry for the gushing & rambling, but I'm still in a state of shock.

If the feds force the employer to a minimum wage, benefit packages etc, the companies might look for better environments to develop products. Also, some overseas mfg's don't deal with those restricitons. So, thats why production has shifted overseas... is our own fault (goverment)... not enough incentives to keep it american made.... all in favor of better salaries and living standards but in the long run that is going to get us... cause somebody, somewhere can do it for cheaper.........

I'm probably the only one that live in the state from this forum. LOL. The Sioux Falls and Brookings Walmart's don't carry them. I was surprised to find one in Watertown. Mine seems sharp, smooth and good even though I am a complete newbie.
