WALKING DEAD Season 4, Sunday 10-13-13

.............................................comic spoiler.........................................

it was lily in the comics who shot lori holding Judith with a shotgun in the comics. 1 shot 2 kills... lori was running for safety and lily shot them both dead not realizing lori has Judith in her arms..

BTW ...

Anyone notice that extra long camera-shoot of the female walker at the end of the episode? That was Clara. The woman who convinced Rick earlier in the Season to go back to her camp with her in order to help her injured husband. She tries to murder Rick, fails; then she commits suicide.

Good catch. I thought she looked familiar but could not put my finger on it.

on other note.. I am glad the prison is done with and hope that show will pick up pace

Isn't tyrese supposed to be some big dude?

He's my favorite character on the show ATM, people were excited when he was introduced.

Is he ever gunna up the level of Bad and be the Action Jackson that he looks like or is just gunna be another person taking up film?

He looks promising but I don't know anything about him. If he was supposed to die, was he ever more interesting in the comic?

What I want to know is how they can shoot that many bullets with such a low percentage of hits. Nobody aims. One good marksman could have ended the fight in less than a minute. Take out the tank driver, then the governor, and the rest will quit. I can suspend my disbelief for zombies, but bad shooting is more than I'm willing to accept.

My thoughts exactly. There was a guy in the prison with a scoped rifle...they should have set up a "who takes out who" while Rick was on his way down. Heck, for that matter, they should have had a better defensive contingency plan before this even started.

One thing, though....wasn't the driver's hatch closed? Definitely take out Mitch, though....tank without a commander is a bit handicapped. Make Mitch and the governor the first targets....target with two to three rifles a piece; take the shots as soon as he headed down toward Herschel with that sword. Decapitate the opposing force and the armor....you'd get return fire; but with a mostly civilian force you'd have enough hesitation to drop quite a few more. Have some rifles target the car's engine blocks in the second volley. No sense in pretending that a sociopath like the Governor is going to be either honest or merciful.

You know, I saw a T-shirt that said "The hardest thing about preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse is hiding my excitement". I might need to get one....

Two other things: anyone else think that Rick seriously missed the opportunity to point out to the governor's new militia that they might not know as much about their leader as they thought? Also, if Mitch was a real US Army tanker, he must have seriously sucked at it.

Yea I've read the same 75,000-80,000 for Nam. But WW2 was a completely different story. Here they report around 20,000. Yet I have never seen where these stats are separated by all of the machine gun fire using the same ammo. For example a 7.62 Mini puts out around 3000 rds a min. Are these included in that small arms ammo tally of Nam??? I don't know but the one thing I do know is in WW1 & WW2 we were trained on a one shot one kill mentality not the spray and pray that persisted in Nam.

Bear in mind that they are also counting fire that is not aimed, such as suppressive or covering fire. It's not a function of inaccuracy as much as it is a function of raw statistics not showing the whole story. Planned, aimed fire that is actually missed would be a better indicator of this; but it would also be impossible to accurately track.

For the show, though, it's not so much the inaccuracy by itself as it is the inconsistency. Remember when they first went into the prison, how accurate everyone was....with head shots?

I like the comics but the sure make they show lame.. I still watch every episode, but I think they have messed the story up. they should make it more realistic . how could they not make a 50 yard shot? I can shoot pop cans all day at 50 yrds with my sks and open sights..

Well I think it's silly that a grenade took out the tank, there's a breech that would have to be opened at the exact same time no?

the comics are good. tv show is inconsistent to say the least...the novels are kinda lame too. in fact I felt it was a waste of time reading it and wish I didn't buy the second one before I had read the first..i will still buy the comics .
like you said how can they pick off walkers bye shooting their heads and cant save hershal ? its not like they didn't have guns pointed at the gouvener and just had to pull the trigger..WTF
you would thing that there was a different writer on the tv show from the comics but he is doing the show as well.. it reminds me of how goerge lucas went back and added crapy new computer animated scenes to the classic star wars movies... why would you mess up a good thing like that?

Well I think it's silly that a grenade took out the tank, there's a breech that would have to be opened at the exact same time no?

They had recently fired at the bridge connecting buildings; so it wasn't a unreasonable possibility. But, yes, I think the breach would have had to have been opened; otherwise, it would have contained the explosion.

I don't know Beth and Darryl ran off with no baby. I don't really see how they are going to keep it alive on the run.

Good chance that one of the little girls ran back to get Judith. Or, that she was possibly saved by a minor character from Rick's group who was injured and bleeding badly.

Or, possibly Lily's sister stumbled upon the baby and rescued it (after her lesbian lover got shot in the head by one of the little girls).

I couldn't remember what happened to Beth... I thought she may have came across the baby and took her to the bus. the two little girls that had the baby obviously ditched her to get guns. I don't think the two sisters the governor was with got the baby, they never made it into the prison yard yet when rick and the prison group took off..

Lily's sister did, but then she wandered off after Daryl tossed that first grenade when he was using that walker as a bullet-proof shield.

That's another bothersome issue....love Daryl, and glad he isn't dead; but there's no way a dead human torso would stop rifle rounds like that, at that range...is there? He'd have had to have caught at least a couple of pass-through rounds.

great episode

like some of you already said - i would have let someone with a bolt action shoot the governor and the tank operator

and the little girl shooting the other woman in the head - i wish i was that good with a pistol when i first started shooting :D - cool scene though!

and yeah, a lever action when there are free ARs with eotech or aimpoint optics and plenty of ammo? must have included that one for the fans :D

I don't know, one would Assume so.

I'd also assume they were shooting military rounds which are always jackets and designed to fragment but often don't.

So I don't know..

Would the round pass through as it is a close range non hollow point or would the close range cause sufficient force upon impact for fragmentation to occur?

^on a side note, I'll assume that's why Mr. Medic was happy to have an exit wound; minimum damage compared to what could have been if the round didn't pass through

I do not know but those two little sisters give me creeps. What the hell is going on with them and rat mutilations. I believe they are the ones who killed and burned people in the beginning.

I have been thinking the same thing. It would seem like Carol to cover for them.

Russ, I do not know if the MINI round total was included. I just grabbed a quick stat to make a point that I know to be valid. Twenty-thousand round per kill (WW2), is still a lot of ammo per death! I was also attempting to illustrate to some here how difficult it is to hit a human-sized target at some 100 yards (per the last episode of WalkDead), while they may be moving, surrounded by vehicles - and shooting at you!...Thanks for the comment, and...Cheers.
