WALKING DEAD Season 4, Sunday 10-13-13

^ihave never had it but I very much would like to; a lot of cotton mouths around here and i don't know if there's some special way to clean a poisonous snake, viper, so i just steer clear of the meat.

Plus I don't have much beef with the snakes anyway I like them and don't kill em.

You clean it just like you would any other snake. Just make sure to burn or bury the heads after you cut them off. All the poison is in the head,so they can still deliver a poisonous bite without the body.

I have eaten rattle snake a few different times. Really tasty when cooked right but I have never cleaned or cooked any of the stuff I have tried so I really cant help with the "how to prepare it" question.

Garth

I've killed cooked and eaten snake many times, it really is just as easy as cut off the head, skin it from the anal vent forward, gut it then cut it into bite size pieces. Cut at the same angle as the ribs between them and then just cook like you would catfish. Some people soak it overnight in saltwater. I just bread it and season and fry it.

Man, that sounds GOOD!

If the apocalypse means the need to eat snakes. ..I hope I die in the war leading up to it!

Dont get me wrong. Snake would definately not be my first choice but in a pinch its ok. If there are still other animals walking around I would eat them first.

I've always wondered if in the WD senario of the end if amimals would be safe to eat still. I mean, if the infection hits all humans what would stop it from infecting the animals as well?

I'm with you on that one! Hunting season would be easier with fewer competing hunters.

I always wondered the same thing. It doesn't make sense for the animals to be immune.

A lot of animals are immune to human viruses. What we have doesn't necessarily mean they can get it.

But if an animal is bitten by a zombie they could be a carrier of the virus.

It was already explained that all living humans are infected with this virus that reanimated them when they die. Its something in the walkers saliva like a deadly bacteria that killed the living with a fever or sickness.

I've skinned a bunch of snakes and the meat looks clean, but I'd have to be starving to eat one. That's coming from someone who's had hoghead cheese, squirrel brains, and hog brains before.

Both my cats have feline aids and only other cats can get it if they don't get a shot for it not humans or other animals so there's plenty of virus's that are confined to one speices. I love the walking dead but don't totally care for the whole zombie thing. Dead walking is almost completly impossible. Mutants on the other hand is completly possible. Like from radiation or other chemicals that mutate humans into subhumans or other monstrosities already happens in the world today. Go look on youtube and there's tons of humans and amimals being deformed from man made toxic chemicals and radiation. It's everywhere. I believe something like that could turn most of the human race into a bunch of cannibilistic fiends. As far as eating reptiles. From what I have had they are freakin' delicious. Deep fried snapping turtle was probably the best meat I've ever eaten and am going to be looking for some this summer. Actually catch them alot while fishing so if get one gonna eat it. Also had gator jerkey which was also good. Never had snake but I bet would not be bad. I don't think there is any creature I wouldn't try eating accept large nasty insects or aniamls that have been feeding off lots of rotting garbage or other vile food source.

Snapping turtle makes great hamburgers and sausage too, you might want to keep it in a clean tank for a week or so and clean the water daily. Makes the meat taste much better no nasty aftertastes.

Now possum is horrible nasty greasy stuff my Grandad would cook that when I was a kid. Bleh.

The first time I ate turtle was at Brennan's restaurant in New Orleans; turtle soup for an appetizer. DELICIOUS!!!;):thumbup:
