WALKING DEAD Season 4, Sunday 10-13-13

I find it funny that people are so quick to want Rick out of the show. I find that he is a believable character with human reactions. A flawed leader, but a good one....

Not so quick for me. I liked Rick's character for the first two seasons or so but then he turned into a hand-wringing neurotic mess.

If you don't like Rick in the tv show you would hate him in the comics.... at least he got rid of the phone and not dragging it around with him on his journey.

I like the tv Rick better. He seemed more mentally screwed up in the comic. The last episode really brought out the bad ass in him. I think the last time I saw the badass Rick was the episode when he was in the bar with hershal and he took out the two guys with the python. He has a more emotional side in the tv series. He seemed more mentally unstable in the comic, but he seems to make more bad decisions in the tv series. ...

If Shane was still around there wouldn't have been a Governor story line....Shane would have killed him quick.

I really liked Ricks character up until he started following his dead wife around the woods. Not sured I would be up on following his lead after that.

Did Hershel overly pacify Rick with disastrous results? They should've left the gardening to the non-hunters, & kept the others hunting the Gov until dead.

Everything Rick did, from the beginning of the show, was to keep his family safe. He lost his wife. In his mind.... Major failure. To add injury, they weren't on good terms. Double failure. He did managed to keep her safe physically for a while, but their relationship was bust. By the time they had to leave the jail, he was convinced that he had lost all.... And his daughter.

The weight of leadership, without any break in sight. Loosing people that you feel responsible for. No end to this situation, ever..... There will be a breaking point..... Unless you don't have a heart/ conscience.

I'm sorry. I'd rather be with the guy that needed a rest , than be with the psychopath ...... We all saw where that leads....

Rick's character may just be, the most realistic one here....

Hunting down the Governor would have been a good idea..... Wasn't that what Michonne was doing?..... A more concerted effort would have been better.

Hershel understood that Rick needed a MAJOR time off...... Hence the farming....... Heck, the entire jail gang understood, and accepted that Rick needed to be "out of the loop". He got them that far.... They have his back.... That's the way a society takes care of itself.

So, yes indeed, you can't have a leader that's wringing his hands and babbling at ghosts; but you don't necessarily abandon him when you're in a position not to. Not after all of what he has contributed..... And continues to do (even in a lesser degree).
