Want a PM2 but...

I've been obessing over a PM2 for a while now. I'm just getting started in this knife collecting business. Being leery that I might just be being impulsive, I think I should start off with a little less of a knife to get things started. What knife would you all direct me towards to get started for less and prepare me for a PM2 in the near future?
 
Just go with the PM2, nothing like the compression lock and the ergonomics.
Maybe find one here on the secondary market, if you don't like it (wich i doubt), just resell it...
 
Whats your budget?

Delica or the Endura are great choices. Or something from te Tenacious line.

Might just want to grab the PM2, you wont be disappointed.

Ontario Rat 1 is a great introduction into the modern knife realm. Inexpensive and a solid workhorse.

Spyderco Military then you might not want the PM2. Either one for about $90 on the For Sale Forum if you lurk.
 
The lock and engros on the Para2 are great. Your going to get one so just do it now.
But if you wait on the PM2 the Delica, and the knives starting with the silver Leek going right are good 1st blades.
 
I was thinking maybe a delica or endura first just to get started. I'm also leery on the PM2 because I want the digi camo and dlc blade, but I am worried that I won't get a dark camo and it'll be to yellow.
 
You'll end up with a pm2 eventually so you may as well get one right off the bat.
 
I bought one last night from the Exchange, for a very decent price. Why are you waiting?

Just watch the exchange for one that has a pattern you like. I just bought this one last week and is pretty dark.

I must 2nd the suggestion for the Ontario Knives Rat 1 or 2. For ~$35 it's impossible to beat. I have many higher end and "more capable" knives, but the Rat 2 ends up in my pocket AT LEAST once a week. It's solid, great ergos and cheap. It comes in various colors as well. Check them out.
 
LOL, just realized this is in the Spydie forum... Endura or Delica and don't look back. In all reality you should just start with the PM2. You will end up there eventually anyway as others have said. Don't sleep on the Endura or Delica, though. They are the best selling for a reason. VG-10 is a great knife steel despite what the snobs say about "CPM-this or CTS-that" It gets crazy sharp easily and holds it well. My advice would be to go somewhere that you can hold the different models.
 
ill second the wtb rec, its the easiest way, or u can get really crazy and just obsessively refresh the for sales forums :p.
 
The PM2 is a good first knife, IMO. I would choose it before I got the Millie only because the Millie is huge. Great knife but not as versatile.
