*sigh* Okay. I'm a certified shorthand (court) reporter (CSR) here in California. At present I'm an independent contractor and doing captioning in the university for hearing impaired students. I've practiced martial arts of some type or other since age 13 (1977), currently preparing for black sash test in Choi Lai Fut kung fu, which I've been into since '93. (waiting for a few injuries to heal!) Other current hobbies: Reading, knives, fitness, movies, eating

, travel, occasional writing. Future goals/hobbies: work way up to court reporting administrator for captioners, become a husband/father (still looking

) learn cooking, hiking, camping, get back into fishing, swimming; join a decent dance class (great way to meet ladies?)

and *maybe* teach martial arts semi-privately. Okay. Neeeeexxt!

This is a wonderful thread!

I am a musician/composer/pro audio consultant in LA and I run the Doctor Audio Website.

I also (with several talented friends) run the NetSword forum.

I am about to launch a Spiritual/Metaphysical forum called WizardNet (wizardnet.com).

My interests are history, medieval weapons and warfare, art, literature, music, and exploring the dimensions of reality that lie beyond the five senses.

Oh, and I have a five year old son that is the most important thing in my life....

I am a former US Army helicopter crew chief/door gunner/refueler/truck driver/grunt/lawn mower/guard/dishwasher and anything else Uncle Sam wanted.
Currently I am an overhead crane operator in a major iron foundry in Michigan. The majority of our business comes from the auto industry ie: body panel molds and the like. We specialize in custom alloys but will use just about any type of iron the customer requires. Not a bad job all in all, if you can stand the heat and smoke.
I am also a husband and father of two wonderful girls. I enjoy knife making(when I get the chance to actually do it). I love fishing and muzzle loading. Lawst year my cousin got me interested in mountain biking. I am greatful for that as my job requires that I sit all day.
That's about it for me.

Congratulations Walter,

I only have two myself. My hat's off to anyone who loves and cares for more than two or three.

I'm currently on my second (or third) career: flying and contracting/program management in the Air Force, and program management/computer systems development now.

The second (of two) tuition payments begins next Fall. I suspect I'd better buy my knives now before all the money's gone.

First I'm a Junior Member aspiring for Full Member status :-)

At work, I'm a financial consultant / planner for one of the world's largest financial services firms primarily guiding business people and affluent retirees with their investments. Yes - I am bullish. I also carry a small Sebenza to slash through the paperwork.

At home, I'm a husband of 16 years - same wonderful woman - and father to a beautiful 3 year old girl.

I'm an active boater and diver master. I devote many hours a month volunteering on several municipal and charity boards of directors.

Favorite activity - hanging out at the local park with my daughter!

As one of you said, it is amazing the breadth of occupations shown. As for myself...

Father of two grown children (one married with my only grandchild),
Quality Assurance Manager for an OEM automotive part supplier / QS 9000 Mgt. Rep.,
TaeKwon-Do instructor (26 years in the art),
Avid reader (if it's printed, I'll read it!),
occasional hunter (squirrel / deer).

That's pretty much it.

With the job I have, knives don't play much part. Size is a factor with the type of clothes required, but have a wide variety of knives I rotate through on a regular basis. (Spyderco mainly, a couple of others once in a while.)

Am an Air Freight pilot, part time Economics student, married, 2 kids; daughter 12 (at that crazy age, apparently lasts till they're 30), son 10.
Like hunting, computers, nice knives, rifles, the mountains, teasing the kids.

Wow. Seems I'm a definate minority. I'm a salesman for the largest cutlery chain in San Diego County-the Cutler's Cupboard. That's my 40 hour gig. I also work part time as a Job Coach, job training developmentally disabled people one-on-one at their jobs. Plus, I'm a student, pursueing a B.A. in Business Administration. I work only to fund my hobbies: hunting (what's open?), gun collecting, knife collecting-obviously-and some sword collecting. I used to shoot competitively before it became too difficult to get practice time. My next short term goal is to become an NRA certified shooting instructor. Go to cutlerscupboard.com and buy a knife. You're already on-line...

Well...i dunno if I answered this, yet...
Anyways, I'm an Asset Protection/Loss Prevention/Security Agent for a department store in the Bay Area...So, next time you're in a Nordstrom, Mervyns, Target, Macy's...look up at the little camera domes, and I may be the one looking back!
