Prior to this order was a pure Sebenza collector (27) of them, with an exception of Wilson combat Eagle. Decided to buy one xm 18 (3.5) from official distributor from Manufacturers site, but could find one. Finally saw on in plaza cutlery and pulled the trigger. Hope it's everything people write it is!

Oh it is. I have no doubt you will enjoy it. I was a big crk guy before by first XM. Now I own nothing but hinderers. Once that badboy comes in the mail post some pics! Congratulations on your first rhk :)

Congrats on your first hinderer!! It is a completely different knife from CRK. Same tolerances though.

Thank you guys. Plaza Cutlery listed it as xm 18 but specks say its 3.5 inch blade with 35sv . Should be gen 4 model I hope, in light green color handle.$695 before shipping charges

The only draw back to Hinderer is the Teflon washers they use instead of the metal washers. The Hinderer is wider than a CRK and a little more bulkier. Of course, for their intended use, they are well built knives that will last a lifetime. They are very dependable and useable right out of the box. The Hinderer does not have any issues with lock stick, rock lock or any other concerns that some other knives have. The S35VN has a great heat treat on the Hinderer that takes a killer edge and will retain an edge longer than the CRK Sebenza. The Hinderer is meant for hard use and will be dependable when it is needed. I think everyone that is a knife collector should have at least one Hinderer in their collection.

What is the blade grind? Spanto? Slicer? Wharncliffe? I am sure you will love which ever you got but they are a bit beefier than CRK or the WC Eagle. The reason I ask what blade grind you got is so we can help you plan your next one before this one comes in:)

The XM-18 comes in 3" and 3.5". The XM-24 is the 4" model. I came from CRK as well and I enjoy my XM-18 just as much. It's a great knife.

Which grind did you get?

Will be getting my Sebenza 25 Mcarta today. Will post pics of that on the other forum. Right now my Umnumzam is the hard user, while all the other sebenzas are safe queens and Eagle is a great tactical self deffence backup carry if Glock fails LOL.Will have to think about a good carry pouch for this Hinderer. Any recommendations ? Ajack60 , wonder how people carry this as EDC or tactical deffence??? Also Alwayscarryaknife looking for a self deffence side of it rather than tech work ??? And MRaymond what's the next model you would recommend ???

Locutus D'Borg was looking for self defense properties. Mostly open boxes of DJ lights and equipment that comes to my home. It's just all these rave reviews by people on this forum and internet enticed me into a purchase.

Hello and congrats on the Slicer.

This thread could go in so many directions with what's been posted already.

I'll just say that these knives are purpose-designed for certain occupations/etc. As for self-defense (assuming that's what is meant by "deffence"...The Ranch hosts (every now and then...about once / year) a collaborative training event w/ some defensive skills as a focus....and guess what knives they use during the event(s).

My line of thinking puts the fixed blades into defensive (or offensive) rolls followed by (if it must fold)...something like the Wharnie as preferences.

Are you asking my reason for getting an XM-18? If so I just got it as another option to have in addition to my CRK's. I use it for yard work, hiking, and I sometimes carry it on the weekend. I don't carry a knife for self defense purposes, so it's just for cutting tasks.

The slicer grind would serve you well, specially coming from slicers like CRK.
If you want to carry your knife in a "pouch" you can get some custom ones to carry in your belt. Other than that clipped to your pocket is fine. Tolerances are tight. I feel is a sebenza on steroids. It's a vault.
Oh btw, Hinderers require a small break in period. Adjust the pivot slightly and flip that sucker to break it in. Then adjust pivot again where it opens as fast as possible with no blade play in any direction ;)
Mine flips pretty good

That couldn't be a marsh green ? could it?? LOL That'd be my luck, got every color of green except that. Enjoy the slicer.

Felix, you'll have to post up some pictures of it when it arrives.
