Not a knife, but if he doesn't have a Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker knife sharpener (or another similar knife sharpening system), that makes a great gift as well. My woman gave me that for Valentines Day. :D Disregard that idea if you know him to prefer sharpening freehand with stones.

A knife suggestion would be the Spyderco Spin. It is a small knife (just under 2 inches blade length), but it would make a handy knife to be able to carry.
 
This is a tough question lady, given the fact that Spyderco has such a wide offer yet there's no accounting for taste.
But I'm sure that no matter which knife you'll pick, your man will be delighted. It's a knife from his beloved girl, and it's a Spyderco. :) Congratulations on your inspired idea and good luck.
 
How about a gift certificate. He could pick any knife he wants, I know I would love that! I'm sure one of the online or local knife retailers has gift certificates.
