Warranty abusers

ESEE offers the Busse/Strider warranty at a fraction of the cost. There is also not the BS hype game being played. THAT is what is prompting me to make a few sales and trades and transition to ESEE.

My pennies worth- am in the UK and I cannot think of any British company that has such a warranty. It is just awesome that ESEE do this for their customers, really really awesome.

However I don't think i could bear running a company where idiots, even if only a few, sent back knives that were not treated with respect. But then I am up-tight, and have no business sense. Big respect to ESEE for being so laid-back in the knowledge that they have to make great knives, to roll with it when people mistreat them, and to run what is by their own admission a business-savvy warranty.

Jeff and Mike really stand by the users after they buy the knife, and thats what counts the most.

Now that we have Patricia on board full time handling most of the dealer orders and customer service, it means we can get out and interact more with the end-user and devleop even a better system for those looking for good using tools.

I think the warranty draws people to the company and acts as a selling feature.

It doesn't keep them to the company. It certainly doesn't keep me to the company. I keep buying ESEE products because they are damn good and because they never do need warranty claim despite the worst I throw at their products.

I was involved in a trade with my scrapyard 5. I had modified it by removing the guard and ramp which is a violation of the warranty terms by Scrapyard. The person expressed some concern that the modifications performed voided the warranty. I told him that was true, but you won't need to make a warranty claim on this knife.....ever. He saw the wisdom of my claim and the trade went through. I did the same modifications to my SOD. Yep, I can never return my SOD back to scrapyard for a warranty claim. It doesn't bother me one whiff. I'm simply confident enough that the knife will never fail.

I truly feel the same way about RC products. I doubt I will every break one of the products even though they get put through some nasty things. I've just learn to be confident in them. If ESEE decided to limit their warranty tomorrow to something a little more confined, it really wouldn't bother me in the least. I respect their principles in the matter and like that aspect about the company, but I guess I just like their products and how they perform even more so!

I buy knives, a lot of them but this is the first company I have bought from that completely stands behind their knives even if you take a chain saw to it and cut it in half. Now I don't abuse my knives anywhere near as I have been reading on these forums, including batoning (would like to get into that though), but what that says to me is these knives are built tough and meant to be used and if you happen to over do it you can get another knife no questions asked. Made me a follower for ever. I have, since buying my rat3, Izula and RC4 told 6 people how good they are and about their warranty and I will be teaching Boy Scouts how to sharpen their knives and plan on telling them the virtues of ESEE knive for when they grow up ( they can't use fixed blades in Scouts so must wait for family outtings or getting older). So for the few really bad ones and honest screw ups they gain customers for life and hopefully the bad ones learn better manners because they where treated with respect no matter what. I will always be a customer for life.

This is why ESEE Knives soon will be a juggernaut in the knife industry and why other knife companies will need to raise the bar to keep up. I will not by a fixed blade knife from any other knife company until they show me the same amount of value, quality, respect and warranty that ESEE Knives shows me. This in the long run will be better for all us knife guys and casual knife customers.

Not to be Debbie downer, but ESEE isn't the only decent knife company. They'll be the first to tell you that. They've treated me great, and I love thier knives, but there's a bunch of good companies out there.... Just avoid the bad ones and you're set

Man, I asked Jeff to stop spiking the punch in the forum lounge with his cool-aid... damn.:D

Busse, Strider and ESEE are the only companies that offer a warranty like this to the best of my knowledge. The last 3 knives I bought were also these brands.

I have since sold one of the Striders which was replaced by the RC 6. Its hard for me to purchase a knife that doesn't have a warranty like this now. Odds are I won't.

I know Busse has great customer service and feel comfortable with ESEE as well. Strider makes me a little nervous and honestly they are pretty pricey. But they are the only folder with this warranty. At their price points I still think Emerson is where its at in the folder department. Maybe its just me but I just can't justify a knife that costs as much as a Glock. My SnG will most likely hit the Exchange soon.

Excellent post. I agree. If we get too get wrapped up in brand loyalty then we will miss out on other good stuff.

i just bought a RC3 off of EBAY. Earlier I thought I had bought my first RAT, a Rat 7 from Ontario (i didnt know at the time it was a different company, i posted about it in here and rcvd an answer) anyways back to the RC3 my first real RAT knife, it is used but i have no problem with that. the reason i am posting about it is that the seller sent me this email after i sent payment.

I got your payment, thanks.. I wanted to let you know that I will ship your package priority mail first thing monday morning.
Also, your getting a great knife collection, all of the knives are
good. I suggest that you break that RC3 and send it in to RAT
for a new one. The only reason I didn't do it is because I did it to
another RAT knife and I didn't want to be too greedy. If your not
familiar with the RAT warranty google it. Thanks

i thought that was BS. i dont plan on breaking it and sending it in, i want to try it out and if i dont like it, ill sell it over in the for sale forum as is. do you guys keep track of the bad apples like the one above so they dont send in "broken" knives more than once.

Our warranty is unconditional. Regardless of how a knife is broken it will be replaced so keeping track of who is sending them in is of no use.

You can find the full warranty here

Yes, there are the idiots out there that will abuse the warranty. But I've learned that justice does indeed come full circle. Personally, I think most folks are like myself and just refuse to lie to get something for nothing. The rest always get what's coming to them eventually. We simply refuse to limit our wrranty to everyone because of one scumbag who will abuse it (like the guy that suggested you break the knife).

What's wrong with the RC3 that he would suggest you break it and get another free?

What the heck?

If you break your knife, and get a free new one....you still have one functional knife.
It's a wash at best...Why would even a greedy dirtbag go to that much trouble?
It's like driving a couple hundred miles to get a free tank of gas...

it has a little surface rust by the logo and some light scratches from batoning through some branches...oh and the handle is dirty. i dont think it will be hard to clean up.
