Was your first a crkt, and do you still have/use it?

Mine was an Apache also. Ended up with all 3 sizes and still carry all from time to time.

Like a lot of responses I had an Apache model. It was the 1* LEO style. I gave to a LEO just starting out on the job. The only other one I have had (and still do) is the Hissatsu folder

1st was a Lightfoot Urban Shark. Lost it somehow though...
Have had since the First Strike series (thought I'd like them, but they didn't grow on me so I ditched them as a set for a tidy profit).
Currently have Heiho and Hissatsu folder, and plain and 1/2 serrated Neely Pesh Kabz folders with a reground tip that actually has a sharp edge.

My first CRKT was m16-01z......after several months,I have nine Big Dogs apart from the smaller M16 and M21....

I also have two carbon fiber handle CRKT. They are pretty light and functional.

Hey wow! A "Cricket" thread!

What got me into CRKT is that their quality/price ratio is very good. I know it's been said before, but it's worth saying again, so I did.

It would be nice to buy all-American knives (designed, built, boxed), but $100+ is a lot of money for me, for something which is going to get scratches on it's nice, shiny blade.

I think my first was a Folding Falcon. Or the Hammond Cruiser. Not too sure. Cruiser got sold, Falcon went to my father-in-law, who still uses it.

EDC'ed my M1 at work for a couple years, like everything about it except that the edge bevel changes from tip to ricasso, making it a challenge for my mediocre sharpening skills. Swapped it out for a Folding Razel, which is doing pocket time in at the plant. CRKT got a lot of things right with the Razels.

I Carry various other crickets outside of work, too. Knives, for me, are kind of like ties for other people: I rotate between favorites, depending on the day and my mood.

I suppose my first knife of any significance was a Aluminum CRKT M16-14SF , I was caught up in all things tacticool and soon found Tanto's were completely impractical for my uses. I gave it to my brother in law who's a certified Tanto nut. Soon after I picked up a smaller spear point G10? M16- something or rather... the build quality was no where near that of the Big dog and it soon bit me. I developed a fear of liner locks after that, which took me a couple of years to get over. I haven't owned a CRKT since. CRKT do have some nice designs, but the Aus's & CR.. steels have never really performed well for me.

My first knife was an Endura, so I thought all quality knives would have perfect fit and finish. That said, I was not disappointed with my second and third purchases, a clip point Stiff Kiss and a Polkowski/Kasper Companion. That was back about 8 years ago and I still use and enjoy both, along with the Spydie.

My first was a small Point Guard, which I carried nearly every day for 7 years until the frame screws stripped out. It's now been retired. Hammond Mirage now. Great knife.

You can try getting those screws for your Point Guard from CRKT.

I tried, they said they didn't have anything that would fit properly. On the plus side, CRKT's CS said if I sent the knife in they'd give me credit for original MSRP towards anything in the current catalogue. I decided to just keep it as a memento.

Aluminum/ AUS8 M21, and My Tighe. sold them both, but kept the M1. They were nice knives but for the prices, but they have since been surpassed in value by excellent offerings from companies like Cold Steel IMO.

Ive had mine for a few years now and its in my rotation for EDC.. I recently refinished it. I bead blasted the blade clean and milled the handle scales.
After that they went into a quick yellow aluminium iridite chromate bath. Heres the result.. It looks better in person.

My first was a M-16 10KZ. I got it from Walmart thinking I would like it, but I was wrong. I didn't like the knife at all and it still sits in my desk. I wouldn't say that it was a "good" quality knife but it was ok. I'm not a huge fan of the auto-lawks system either. With all that being said. I have recently picked up a CRKT Ripple (Walmart's run), and an M21 with Vex serrations. The Ripple is outstanding, especially for the price, great quality. The M21 is awesome as well, i'm giving it to a friend for xmas, and I'm kind of jealous! So I'm glad that these two CRKTs made up for my M-16, otherwise that bad taste would probably still be there.

I have a tutition that I like to look at but rarely carry, and M16 zytel that is in my EDC rotation, and a folts minimalist neck knife. I love the folts and will probably purchase one in better steel from alan folts sometime.

not my first knife, but my first decent brand name knife, a big m16-14zsf. I've had it forever, beat the thing to death, and it still keeps on going. I will never get rid of it, it's really special to me. I'm sure the mod Glockman will be posting on this thread soon, he's famous on the forums for being a fan of the m16 series.

My girlfriend has that neck knife... She made me make a new set of scales for it..
Fun project.. I used 2 of my old t-shirts for the micarta slabs I did up for it.. Came out kinda cool
It has a Maroon, and navy blue tigerstripe pattern to it now.. way better then the black.

my first was an m16, i dont remember the exact model. Had 2 of them. they now reside with my cousins since i bought a benchmade

My first CRKT was the Mirage, which I got at a closeout price several years ago. It still gets a good bit of pocket time around the house when I feel like carrying a little bit larger blade than my normal EDC.
