Wave Feature Consensus

You must be military to use the term squared away, it's the only place I have heard the term.

And agreed, census needed :D

Nope, don't hold that honor. Must have picked it up somewhere along the way.

Just like any opening method, it has its up sides and down sides. Personally, I find it intriguing... but, for consistency and (imo) less downsides I rather use a flipper.

I usually run the knife through the cable lock I use to secure my small gun safe to my checked luggage. Barring that, you can use a rubber-coated long-hasp padlock to accomplish much the same. Or even a cheapo cable gun lock.
How do you anchor the lock and knives inside the suitcase ... or dont you anchor/fasten them to the inside of the case at all?

I once epoxy'ed a steel plate and anchor inside a Pelican case for the same purpose. Just not sure a bit of flex wouldnt loosen it ....

I have no use for the wave feature. I'm not into knife fighting and I have my CPL. I'm content to reach into my pocket or belt sheath and deploy the blade with my thumb.

I had a waved Delica. It was fun to fire out of the pocket for awhile but then it got old and I got tired of beating up my right, front pocket of my jeans/pants.

I like the Emerson wave. If you dont want the knife to open.....ohh, I forgot, that its de rigeuer to use the term 'deploy';)....just turn the knife slightly sideways or place a finger on the tip. No problem.

Carrying an Emerson in the back pocket quite frankly never occourred to me.
After learning about this carry method, Im still not going to adopt the method.
No knife in any back pocket ... ever.

I like the idea of the wave feature but not really sure if I would ever use it. I am in dress clothes most of the time.

I do, however, love the overall ergos of the CQC7 and would buy one in a second if it was not chisel grind or tanto blade.

I dislike the Wave feature but like many of the knives that its on.
So...I remove it.

Same with me. I remove the wave feature.

I de-waved my second Horseman and I traded a de-waved Mini Roadhouse to another forum member. I was a metal worker/machinist for 20 yrs. I had access to the best tools for the de-waving process. My last Emerson with a wave is my 2014 waved CQC-7A. I was actually going to keep that one waved but it came from the factory with more of a nub than a wave. It would not wave open and also was missing some of the
writing on the blade. De-waved it and kept it. It was cheaper than sending back in for repairs.

I like the wave because I'm lazy, pocket draw means open knife. However if I'm around people I can pull my knife out easily without opening it. I get an easy opening when I want, and I can manually open it when I want. Plus it makes me feel cool, haha
