WC Startac (new model?)

Hey if its an improvement im all for it! Just dont like the looks of it so far, have only seen that one pic. And if i get it and its not too bad hey!? But again it isnt what i thought i was getting!

You think?

My money is on it remaining unchanged regardless of customer opinion.
maybe they make it a little purdier for the masses

Thanks for dropping by with your wonderfully worthwhile input.
as opposed to people whining about something that iimproves the durability of a. Knife bye saying ewwww its ugly ...ya I think it was a worthwhile post to thanks

I think its an improvement of durability of the knife for the long run and if you don't like it cause its not what you expected and wc doesn't let you return wich I think would be against the law you can wait till this run sells out on their website and sell for an extra 30 bucks on forum. Make back your shipping and get an extra 10

Improves durability you say ? I have 2 of the original run Umnumzaans and they are doing just fine with out it so that will need to remain to be seen.

Coming into a manufacturer forum and calling all of it's members and collectors "the whiniest people in the world" is not needed or helpfull in any way, if you want to share your opinion keep it to the knives and company, not the members of the forum..........or we can go to Whine & Cheese if you like ?

Chris Reeve was just tired of people complaining about the "Idaho Made" stamp, so he wanted to give people something else to complain about.

Just like the "Idaho Made" stamp, this is a good idea, just not quite implemented perfectly, IMO. I believe there are more elegant ways to accomplish the same thing. The Umnumzaan is seen to be a hard use folder and all of the competition (Strider, Hinderer, ZT, Military, etc) have a stabilizer. Chris Reeve probably did this partly because a stabilizer is a good idea, and partly to keep up with "The Jones".

you're right it wasn't fair of me to categorize all collectors of crk whinney just the ones that are treating the umnum like its a piece of jewelry. So what you are saying is the stabalizer doesn't help durability of a knife and help prevent accidentally over extending . your threat

I support anything that makes the knife more practical. And I love the Idaho made on my insingo .

Here I will help the otherside argue better then just saying eww its ugly ....... I believe that the hollow grind and steel choice used in a umnum doesn't put it in the same class of hard use folders, such as the xm ,3v striders ,0551 or the thicker grinded s30 on striders and 0300s. so the stabilizer is overkill for a hollow grind knife designed for slicing and in some cases be used as jewelry

Once again we have someone coming in here just to call names and belittle people that have an oppinion on the esthestics of a knife.

Do you actually own and carry an Umnumzaan ? I do and I find the clip puts enough pressure on the lock bar to act as a lock stop. IMO having used the Umnumzaan for a good while it's not needed. I don't like the look of the one in the OPs picture but I can see it being far less of an issue when/if it's blended with the knife better. The function of the knife will of course remain unchanged, people just don't like the look of it for now, and these are first impressions, but that doesn't make them or I a whiner.

As for my "threat" W&C is the right place for name calling and other shenanigans so keep your spew for that forum........

Also am currently deployed and I have yet to find a task even my skyline can't handle... I just use it like a knife, a prybar like a prybar and a hammer like a hammer. 'Hard use' on a knife should be only in tasks that required a knife .

Spydusse take a chill pill man! I know you are a CR fan so why are you hating on the Umnum?! Think this thread has gotten a tad off track! It was originally posted to let potential buyers of the Wilson Combat Umnum know about a major design change that they didnt relay to their customers! Thats all man! Go pour yourself a scotch!

I am a crk fan and im chill. I understand the point of it beng an informative thread about a rolling change, I just think alot of people were whining over something I think crk wanted to be a pleasant surprise.to me it only improves the strength and design of knife. Am I saying an umnum would fail without it in a year or ten, absolutely not. But now its just that much better . It just reminded me of the idaho stamp all over again, alot of whining over nothing. In the piture the stabalizer matches the pivot so I don't know why the jewlery guys got so up in arms. Looks good to me,to each his own.

Quit with the underhanded insults.....When people are spending hundreds of $$$ on a knife it should be easy to understand that how the item looks is going to be part of the equation. You just look like you're trolling the forum for a spat by calling members here "whiners" and "jewlery guys". :thumbdn:

I guess I would have to see it in person but the picture of it doesn't offend me in the slightest.
