WE Knives? Another high end Chinese company?

I am also waiting, but they look like they have a lot of potential. I really liked the first two of their designs that I saw.

Too bad for the "special" pivot screw, though...

Fortunately, they include the adjustment tool and replacement hardware.

Unfortunately, I dislike proprietary screws as well. What if you lose the tool!

I guess I'm the opposite....I can't stand seeing simplistic fasteners/adjustment mechanisms on knives, esp. flat heads! And of course I get all the what ifs, but for me personally, those what ifs will almost certainly never come into play, & I suppose if I lost the tool, well, I'd imagine they're replaceable. I enjoy the exclusivity. Then again, I'm that guy...snobbish to the core.

I think these look to be very well made. If/when I can afford it, would love to add one to the collection. I too wonder about the sharpening of that funky tip bevel. But I do like the look of it. I'm sure it could be navigated with most sharpening systems.

Absolutely love the finish refinement. Those must be some very talented slave children. ;)

So far so good.

This isn't specific to WE knives, as Kizer, Stedemon, Quartermaster, and other Chinese manufacturers also say it, but is there any proof that they're actually using US made steel? It seems like quite the waste of money to ship steel from the US to China, and it wouldn't be the first time Chinese manufacturers listed a specific steel rather than saying "a steel comparable to". I mean no insult to the company its just a personal irritation that undermines trust in a manufacturer. I actually really like what WE knives are making.

During the Tim Britton Tango kerfluffle, Kizer produced invoices showing steel purchases from CPM. I think Reate has done something similar also. I'm not sure about the other guys.

Thanks, that is really cool to hear.

That's where Quartermaster knives are made

Other than that, I'd buy a WE Knife if they cost slightly less.

Niagara Specialty Metals confirmed that they're making regular shipments to Kizer and I think the fact that Todd Begg and Liong Mah are collaborating with Reate is pretty strong, if circumstantial, evidence they're above board.

Was somebody doing this?

Shipping commodities is cheaper than you think.

I'm not defending any Chinese knife maker with the following comment, but casting aspersions like this irks me.

Shipping stuff back to China in all those empty containers is cheap... Sometimes it's not even worth sending the container back...

So do they only have this one design or are there other models?

KnifeCenter has the Apollo 1 by WE Knife Company with a 3.6" Wharnie blade, bearings flipper and titanium frame lock for $265. Standard torx screws.

I'll try to cross post some of their pics from Instagram later today. The pic I put up is an upcoming release (prototype) - they have the 601 currently in production (in the video near the start of this thread and currently on BladeHQ's website,) they manufactured the Apollo for Gundose (available at Knifecenter,) and are releasing a number of models soon with a planned roll out at Blade.

Thanks for clarifying that OmarShablotnik! I actually created a business under District Knives. I know it may have confused some people because the knife was marketed under different names.
