WE Knives? Another high end Chinese company?

Well, stuck to my word. Zeta is ordered, should be here tomorrow or the day after. :D

Looks like a sick knife. I got the "now in stock" email the other day. However , I'm too obsessed with a couple other knives at the moment. But it's on the list.

Fortunately the only two other knives I got on my "really really want" list are the 0393 and 0462, which aren't gonna land for another month at least. I mean of course there are 1-2 knives that I think are kinda neat that I might want to get, but I figured with the Zeta being sorta limited, I get it now.

I'm sure she'll be excited - it's only one knife. It's not like you went and purchased 10 pairs of Jimmy Choo high heels for yourself - LOL

It's always only 'one knife'. But I think this is 5 in the last 3 months! I did sell off a few

Where did you order from? BladeHQ is still showing as preorder

I'm in germany, ordered it in Holland, one of the official WE Distributors. I read on IG though that US orders have started to ship too. So they might not have it updated yet. I'm sure you'll have yours by the end of the week too.

How come all those new quality Chinese knife company seems to have the attention span of a chipmunk? I mean, they make a new model, discontinue it 20 minutes later and move on to the latest and greatest. By the time you see one on a reviewer table, it's already an antique by 10 generations.

Got the shipping notification today - woot!

Interesting perspective. What new quality Chinese knife company discontinues a production design 20 minutes later? Was there a specific WE model you're in the market for but can't find?

Plenty of manufacturers doing limited edition and sprint run releases with set quantities. Massdrop is another example.

Specific to WE - the 617, 703, 704, 701, 604, 602, 620, 607, 708, 702, Nitidia, Zephyr, Thraex, Array, Ignition, Sea Monster, Valiant, Straight Up, Slipstream and other models are all available for sale in multiple finishes at last check.

Someday I'll get that 604DS...

Awesome. I wouldn't be surprised if you got it first. I !$§% hate the shipping service thy have used. It was supposed to be here today, but it's stuck again, so HOPEFULLY tomorrow. Same with an amazon package last week, supposed to arrive Wednesday, was SORTED three times, arrived on Saturday. *sigh* I don't even care that it arrived later, but just be more realistic or pessimistic about your shipping time, say Friday instead of Wednesday, it's less of a effing lie.

I don't own any WE knives. Some of their designs are very nice though. I have to say, I'm shocked at how high some of their prices are. I'm in Canada, Warriors and wonders is my go to site to buy new knives this side of the border. I was browsing their site and saw " new batch of we knives just arrived" or something along those lines. The thumbnail knife looked cool so I clicked.
$840cnd. Plus tax and shipping.
That's +$900cad. I understand that was a limited edition, but wow. There latest batch seems really pricy too. Cool designs but less than premium steel at +$400cad. That's a no go for me.
I'd like to try one but my curiosity has a limit.

My Zeta arrived today from GPK. First impressions: It's a little more compact than I expected; a good thing. It also strikes me as aesthetically sleeker and more modern looking in person than the photos conveyed. Also a good thing.

The detent is up to We's usual high standards, but the tiny flipper tab feels a little sharper than the one on the Eschaton, even though they have the same profile and jimping. This is probably due to the fact that the tapering handle profile makes it a little tricky to keep your middle finger from pressing on the lockbar during opening, but I'm already getting the hang of it.

The tiny 3D machined ti pocket clip is pretty tight. You have use some effort to clip and unclip it when wearing jeans, though I'm sure you can bend it a bit if you're so inclined.

Note that the stop pin rides on the blade tang, and the lockbar insert/over-travel stop is extended to the point that it's almost a liner lock. Lockup is early, stick-free, and 100% solid. Flipping action is buttery smooth. The lockbar is easy to release and the blade falls shut. There are no obvious hotspots.

Fit and finish is also up to We's impeccable standards. The blade has a bright satin finish with a shaving-sharp edge and perfect centering. Nice and thin behind the edge, too.

The only improvement I can think of would be some milled cavities inside the ti handle sections to save weight, though the knife is well-balanced as is. At 4.1 oz. it's not exactly overweight, but oddly, it feels heaver than it looks.

Rick Rick , nice write up  , does the Ti look dark gray in person? In some online pics it looks almost plain and light stonewash gray in other rather dark.

b00n b00n - The ti is indeed very dark grey. It looks like a light acid wash on top of the heavy stonewash.

The lighting conditions are a little better right now, so here're a few more pics:

Rick Rick , thanks man. Excellent pictures, the dark gray fits very well with the carbon fiber. I have contemplated a dark bronze ano down the line. We'll see I quite like it as is. Can't wait to get mine.
:D

You're welcome.

I tend to like some color on my knives. Black and grey are so commonplace these days. I was a little disappointed that We isn't offering a color variation of some kind; maybe a light bronze or purple like the protos. But now that I have it in-hand I'm very pleased with the dark grey and CF combo. It goes well with the bright satin blade, and it complements the CF Eschaton nicely.

Edit: And now that I think about it, the dark grey probably references the knife's namesake; the Roswell Greys from Zeta Reticuli.
