We want Calypso Juniors!!!!

I already have one with VG10 blade so I would like one with D2 to round out the set. I think that it would be more unique if it was made from D2. This might be a good selling point.

Mr Glesser says: "Hi Yog. the thread generated here on the Calypso jr. has convinced me to make at least one run of the FRN version to see viability of the run. They'll be gray FRN with VG-10. We plan to make 1000. They will all be plain edge. We will retain the name Calypso jr name to avoid additional tooling costs in this test. If the response is good, we will consider another run in another color FRN or even a micarta or ?? version.

The "plan" is for November delivery. I'd like to thank all of you for your support in requesting this design. We'll see what happens.

sal"

Isn't that great news!!

Sal,

Thank you! I have already let my favorite dealer know that I want one of these, that is assuming they will be sold through dealers.

The micarta handled model in VG-10 or D-2 would be very sweet and I would snap one of these up also.

IMO, this is one of the best knives Spyderco has made, next to the Military.

What d'ya mean "one" ? If micarta Calypso Jnr's were re-released in VG-10 or D-2 I'd buy one for every day of the week, then bully all my family to get them for my birthday and Christmas presents :D

Thanks Sal, this is much appreciated.
Hope it doesn't cost you (Spyderco) too much to do the sprint run.

It's great to see how responsive Spyderco can be to our little niche audience :D

How are they going to be distributed? SFO? 1SKS? Everybody?

The name should describe the user as well as the design (aficianado, expert, anal retentive, obsessive compuslive knife nut, refined design, etc.) And most important, it cannot have already been used by another knife company (so it can be trademarked).

How about Spyderco Reliant? (Sounds better than "Spyderco Anal Retentive" :))

D2 preferred but I would buy another VG10 blade, for sure.

The carbon-fiber police and delica have been available through good dealers - New Graham, etc. Sal says that the run is going to be ~1000, which is roughly the same as the carbon fibers, so I imagine that you'll be able to get them outside of SFO from one of the online dealers.

*Note, this post was made using no actual knowledge

Though we have received some very good names, I decided to hold off on a name change at this time. Tooling costs to change the name on the handle are about $5,000 divided by 1000 pieces equals $5.00 per piece on the mfg level. That would severely impact the selling price of the piece.

We will record the names, and check for prior ownership.

Oohhh, does that mean that us prior owners get first dibs ?
If so does that mean I'm able to buy 3 (FRN-PE, FRN-SE, Micarta-PE) :D

I presume the limited run Calypso Jr.'s will have the flat grind blades and that's fine with me. However, I also really liked the hollow grind blade that came with the stainless steel handled version. (Just lamenting). :(

By this Christmas hopefully i'll have a new grey Calypso Jr. PE ...... Dear Santa SAL, For next Christmas all I want is a PHOENIX PE D2 W/G10, Thank You :) :) ( p.s. or Micarta & S30V )

Has a ring to it , and those who knew the origonal will understand. Luv mine in VG-10, guess S30V is out of the question as it's made in Japan. The design is obviously classic , so G10 scales, or more than one color / material option would be nice . Dressy or Camping kinda stuff.
