Welcome. You came to the right place.

Good evening ladies and gents.

Lurked for maybe only two weeks and joined up 'cause...well, it's the best place to be if you're nuts about blades.
Started out with SAKs. Had them since I was big enough to wield them and be trouble.
Switched over to tacticals maybe fifteen years ago. Carried a 240-grammes Strider folder as an EDC for Pete's sake.
Got really bored even to the amount of - brace brace brace!! - not carrying at all.

Then I found GEC. Sold everything else I had. Even my very early Fällkniven A1.

Now I'm a died in the wool can't be without them Traditional Nut.

So: thanks for hookin' me up. Even if it means spending a fortune every fortnight.
Blade On, Bro's!

Cheers from Bavaria.

Hey Everyone, New here and a newbie when it comes to knives. Need another hobby so i am gonna give it a whirl. Looking forward to hanging out and seeing some nice work.

Hi everyone!

I'm both new to this forum and new to collecting knives so I guess you'd call that a 'double-edged sword' :p
Anyway, I've been purchasing various knives from various places and manufacturers for about a year or more now and was wondering how, or better yet 'if', anyone could tell me how to know which knives from a certain maker/company will increase in value and I should be on the lookout for. I know manufacturers like Spyderco and such have their 'flagship' knives, but can anyone tell me what the flagship knives are for other 'mainline' manufacturers and if they're worth getting or not? Also, I've noticed that sometimes it's not just the handle material that increases the value, but also the particular color of that same handle can have influence over the price as well. Same with blade material and so on, which I can completely understand, but handle color, I'd think that would be more of a personal choice issue than a collectible one. Unless it was a limited run or some such thing, but what do I know... So my question is...are there any hard and fast 'rules' about things like this that somebody could help me out by telling me or do I just have to flounder around in the dark like I've been doing...

Thanks in advance for any and all help offered. I really appreciate it !!!

Welcome to Bladeforums. :)

It can be difficult to impossible to accurately predict which knives will increase in value. After all, if it were easy to predict such a thing, everybody would be doing it (but then if everybody was doing it that would decrease the value). Limited runs certainly have the potential to increase in value.

Many on this forum will tell you that knives are a bad investment if you are looking to make a profit. Often, when knives do increase in value, the increase over the years is less than you would get if you left that same money in a savings account.

My suggestion is that you ask your question further on down below among the regular discussion topics. More people will read it and you should receive more answers and opinions.

Hey guys, knife knewbie here. (see what i did there? haha)
Mostly into shooting, but I've always wanted to learn more about knives because what bugout bag is complete without a solid blade. Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Hello everyone! I'm new to bladeforums but I've been lurking in this site for quite some time now. I'm a gun guy and want to know more about knives. I've been concealed carrying knives (not the high-end ones) for quite some time now. Looking forward to learn more from this group. :)

Howdy yall. New maker and forum user here. I'm a custom knife maker, blacksmith and woodworker from Texas. I recently started selling blades to fund better equipment and materials. I'm heeding the advice of Bill Coye who advised new makers to get off of Instagram and get involved with a forum to learn something. I've been lurking for years using the forum as a learning tool. Here are a few examples of my work.

some busse and kin for sure.. but it really depends on the demand for it. But busse/kin will always hold their value, as far as i have seen since most are limited. Other than that might wanna check out knifemaker's market subforum, lots of talent there at affordable costs and some can get famous and boom ur knife went up in value. And as far as hard/fast rules i dont think those really exist for anything, especially things like a market, its constantly changing.. but if its limited/ if its awsome then people want it, ive kinda notice that trend ;)

And welcome Mightymax, i am kinda new to the forums too

cleetus was banned. Returning lying trolls are not welcome here or in the knife community as a whole.

Hi all,

I have been here a while but only reading and searching. Couple years ago I have bought here my first Microtech - Currahee. Now I'm looking for my first Hinderer :)

Hey fellas,

I'm a complete newbie to the knife world and have just been introduced to this forum. I'd love to get to know other enthusiasts and learn from other's experiences. I only really have one decent knife, that being the Falkniven Jarl which is used for hunting. Now, i'm looking for a new bushcraft specific knife and have my eyes on the Falkniven A1 Pro. Anyway, thought I'd drop in and introduce myself. Cheers, Dan

Hola!

I've been reading over these forums for the last couple weeks while doing some research on what knife to purchase as my first "good" knife. I've always had something, from little Buck knife replicas to who-knows-what brand folders (never paid attention to brand until recently), and always enjoyed having a knife with me while outdoors. I've been carrying this tiny TOPS 'Win' keychain knife for nearly 20 years and figured it's time I carried something a bit more like a knife than a metal toothpick. :P

I have to say thanks to all you knife "nuts" and extensive collectors for the many posts. Reading the details on knives from actual users of them helped me to understand what I wanted in a knife and what I should be looking for. I've started with a decent sub-$100 CRKT so I can get used to a proper pocket folder (usage, maintainence, sharpening, all that jazz) again before I move up to something a bit more expensive. But, seeing the knives some of you all have makes me wish I had more time and money lol

Thanks for having such a great community. Looking forward to purchasing and using many more blades! :)
