We were all new here once

Hello,

I am a blades/guns lover from France and I've found a good forum full of others (blades/guns/EDC...) enthusiasts.

Today I want to buy a new dagger and I hesitate between a Fallkniven MC1 Mine Clearence Knife and a Cold Steel Tai Pan in San Mai III.

Thanks and cheers from France.

Newbie here from the UK, bought my first EDC knife a few weeks ago, a Spyderco, now have 3 and one more on the way! This could get expensive.....

Hi, from central PA!

I've been lurking for a few years & decided to join up, because occasionally I have questions about something sharp or pointy. I'm not new to knives. I've never left the house without a knife in my pocket since I was 5 or 6, and that's been about 62 years; so maybe I'll even be able to offer an opinion or advice occasionally.

Thanks.

Hello from Canada! I'm heavy into EDC, survival/minimalist camping, and general preparedness. Big fan of Cold Steel, Leatherman, and Victorinox. BladeForums seems like a great resource of knowledge and information and I look forward to getting involved.

Hi all!
From Fl Panhandle. I'm recently retired military, disabled. I really enjoy learning new things and the amount of skill and talent here is incredible. My background growing up was restoring cars w my Dad. I still do as much as I physically can. I have a 1966 Chevelle SS. Also, I got into reloading a few yrs ago and love it. Now I'm addicted to knives and knife making. Right now, Im just reading and taking notes from sticky's and conversations, where I can. I actually went to the library, first time in 20 yrs and checked out some books from the beginners sticky, McCreight, Boye etc. Just wanted to say thanks to all the folks that share their wisdom and knowledge on here. I know I appreciate it very much. Cheers!

Hello,

I'm currently an Idahoan - good state for weapons, but the pay here isn't good. Since childhood, I've been into knives, throwing sharp things, guns - never really branded with blades like I did guns, and I think that's what I'm interested in getting more into. Grew up around my Filipino friend and his family. Seemed like they all had a balisong (even his mom, lol!). I picked up a bit of knife bling from them, but not like the videos I have seen here on this site. My grandfather taught me what he learned in WWI with a Ka-bar - I ended up getting his old knife when he died. I could post some pics, but it's nothing that special - he used it a lot working around the house, so it's worn down. About 14 years ago, I got into some Chinese martial arts and picked up some willow leaf blades. Got a pair of Coldsteel's Shanghai Warriors which are as sharp as sin, but easy to nick up. I don't practice with them much - at least not both at the same time. Been teaching some basic knife defense and handling to people off and on over the years, but not staying up with it enough to be good. Two years ago, I found the Kukri - absolutely amazing, versatile blade. I'm wanting to get a real nice one soon, but those can get expensive. I have some fairly old one (no idea of the brand). The leather hilt is pretty much trashed and all the wood is exposed. The blade itself is great - balanced well, kind of heavy, and I've got it pretty sharp now. The former owner painted it dull green for some reason, so it's not exactly beautiful. That's probably more info than anyone wants to look at. Sorry about that.

HI I'm new here.

Used to carry a pocket knife for years and then later on needed one for work. Since I've retired and the world went to heck, I don't carry one much any more- Hate to give it up to someone cause "that's the rules" if I'm gonna fly or cruse or go to ..... Sigh, well never mind it's all good.

I happened on an old pocket knife of mine, and wondered "what's' the story of this thing?" ('course I was really hopin' it was a lost treasure - 1 of only 2 made by a master craftsman and worth millions!

)-- well, That part didn't work out. But I did enjoy the information I got from this site. So thought I'd join and maybe learn even more cool stuff.

Well Said, I'm new here,, Love to write knife review and making a knife. I'm here to learn more everything about blade making and other things those are related with knives.

Howdy,

I carried many different knives while I was in the military. I bought whatever was at the PX; Gerber, Buck, Cold Steel, CRKT, etc. I never spent much because knives were easily lost in my line of work. I just viewed them as tools. I was issued a Benchmade Stryker prior to deploying to Iraq. It was the first nice knife I ever owned, and it opened the door to better knives for me. I really like Spyderco, and I own several now.

I am now beginning to understand why a knife can cost hundreds of dollars. I do not consider myself a collector, but I have more knives than I need...

Peace,
Michael

Welcome. :)

Nice collection there. And yes, I'm confidant that your time spent on this forum will result in an increase in your knife collection, and a decrease in your bank account ;).

I am pretty shure that i want a lot of the steel shown here :)
Ordered a Sog Tomcat 3.0 with a 40% off retailprice ,which should arrive one of these days.

Thanx MTURBO...

And the Sog Tomcat is in and what a gem.
