Welcome "Buck Knives Inc."

Thank you for letting us know a drop point for 112's is really being considered! The day I have that option I will order a new one..I would love to see a DP S30V or S35VN as well or even mirror polished 420. Are new handle choices being considered too? It would really be something if we could order a bareheaded 112 in Jigged Buffalo horn!

Thank you, I hope to be an active participant on this forum. Jeff will still be around but for now you'll just get me. My name is Matt Smit, I am the Customer Service Manager at Buck Knives. I manage our Warranty Dept. ,Customer Service, and factory store here in Post Falls. I might have some of the Customer Service team answers questions from time to time but hope I can keep up.
OK. The following 20 paragraphs outline my grievances for Buck Knives:

Just kidding. Welcome. Buck hasn't issued a SFO in the last few weeks. How else am I to spend my money?

Welcome Matt. Glad you are here!

I know nothing about tooling or the cost of it, but if you keep the 301 going and add it to the custom shop with an expanded number of cheap to expensive handle covers, 420HC and S30V steel AND a buyers choice of blade combinations I don't see how you could go wrong! I miss the 302 Solitaire terribly and I buy two 2 blades models every time they are offered (BF knife and 2x BOTM). I would even buy a single blade sheepsfoot for the heck of it.

Yes! A single blade sheepsfoot 303 please! That's one of my favorite blades on the 303. In the top 3, at least. It's tough to decide sometimes.

We have almost completely wore out the tooling for these models and when we run the numbers on the 300's the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
That’s disappointing to hear. I like the 300 series a lot and have been trying to accumulate very good condition 301’s on the used market. Think I’m up to about 9 now.

On another note, I REALLY wish y’all would bring back the 307 BUT with the 3 spring design like the 301 & 303’s. Probly never see such a thing but that’s my dream :-(

Yes to all of this! I have a similar number of 301's and a couple 371's - slightly fewer 303's and just a couple 309's and 305's. They're all great knives, and I'd be sad to see them go (or extremely happy to see the 305 and 309 come back). I'd love to see them with different colored Valox scales.

I've never actually seen a 307 in the flesh. Were they ever made by Buck, or were they always contract knives?

Because this thread could use some photos, here's an old one from when we still had leaves on trees:

Nice job Buck Knives Inc. Buck Knives Inc. ! These are some of my favorite slippies.

I am on a newly formed committee to discuss what we can and should add to our custom shop as well as remove. We have some big plans for the Custom Shop this year. I am advocating for a drop point 112 to be added to the custom shop. bucksway bucksway I have spoken to you on the phone and promise this is being addressed. I don't want to say never but the 300's are a long shot. We have almost completely wore out the tooling for these models and when we run the numbers on the 300's the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
Welcome Matt. I hope you enjoy your time on the forum. We're happy to have you for sure.

Wondering if the Frontiersman packs enough juice to be considered as an addition to the Custom Shop?

You know, I couldn’t tell you. I actually don’t know much history about them at all. I bet somebody here could learn us both though and hope they do. Very nice pictures!

Can you get the Duke 500 added? Also, How about short runs of the different old 900 series Bowies that the old custom shop made.

One important thing for Buck to consider is cost of options in the Custom shop. I'm ready to pay very well to get what I REALLY want in a CS 112..Especially for super steel drop points! $40.00 for a S35VN DP? Sure!! Or if there is a few S45VN clip points leftover from the Koa BOTM I would gladly step up for that too. I'm totally good with limited availability or while supplies last for Custom shop options. Buck doesn't make very many build outs since Joe retired and I know there's got to be odd amounts of parts left over for many models..why not use them in the Custom shop? Now that it's VERY easy to add/change things on the website you can post limited options till they are gone. Not only will folks visit more often to see what's new I bet more knives will be ordered! The same goes for handle materials and parts for the Take-Apart models. Say Buck makes a limited run of different colors of micarta for 110/112 knives. Just offer them up in the Custom shop while supplies last.
I floated the idea of buying Custom Take Aparts in the Custom shop when the concept was first released. I still think it's a good idea especially if Buck offered packages of blades and handles ( plus spare parts like the small screws or even frames ect.) so we could play with them like Barbie dolls lolol! Just charge enough to make it worthwhile for Buck to do it. It works well for the 722 Customs. We are ready to pay for what we want.

@buckaway Thank you for your suggestions, some of those are on our plate to discuss at our next meeting. I have some ideas for all of those overrun blades and handle materials hang tight should be seeing some soon. Our internal processes makes it difficult to pull in parts for limited runs on the website and for the people making the knives. I am currently working with our New Product Manager on a parts kit for the Sport and TRX. I don't know about blades since it becomes a warranty issue for us but maybe someday inlay and scales

I actually sent an email to Buck asking if I could get the Boy Scout Duke customized to not have the Boy Scout logo on it or the engraving on the bolsters. But I guess that email annoyed them, because they never replied

I've also been asking the Buck person on Instagram for a 112 with sterling silver scales. We got the copper ones, let's go for sterling. I prefer pure silver but I think it would be too soft, so sterling or even coin silver would be OK.
