Welcome "Buck Knives Inc."

The hardest thing to find from Buck, even from California, is loose blades. Basically the only source was buy a knife for the blade or buy from former employees who always seemed to have a few. For 112's it's almost impossible to find ANY drop point blade unless you buy a new knife. And then if you want something special you have to send it off. I've did that a few times. And I always look for older Customs..

I actually sent an email to Buck asking if I could get the Boy Scout Duke customized to not have the Boy Scout logo on it or the engraving on the bolsters. But I guess that email annoyed them, because they never replied

I've also been asking the Buck person on Instagram for a 112 with sterling silver scales. We got the copper ones, let's go for sterling. I prefer pure silver but I think it would be too soft, so sterling or even coin silver would be OK.
I apologize about us not getting back to you about the 500 Duke w/o the logo. We have been a little behind on responding to emails but are working to get that down to 48 hours. Unfortunately right now the only 500 we produce is for the Boy Scouts with the Eagle Scout logo etched into the wood. I will take your suggestion to our Custom Knife committee although we have done sterling silver scales in the past and it wasn't the most popular version because of the cost.

Wow, it is really cool to see a Buck presence on the forum! I would like to add my 2 cents on what I would like to see from the custom shop. I think it would be cool to see the 105 as an option but I dont think they are popular enough probably. The 105 is a really nice looking knife though (I think most people would agree?) and a nice "in between" option between a 119 and 110 (each of which are obviously in the custom shop) and so I think the 105 could be a good custom shop option for Buck. It is different enough from other options to be pretty unique too. Also, I just really like the 105 so... help a guy out Buck Knives Inc. lol 😁
EDIT: Also, some carbon steels like 5160 in the custom shop would be nice. It would be a relatively cheap option, but would be a cool thing to see for those who just want some different and unique. Especially if you use your custom knife and it gets a unique patina going to make it yours. That would be really cool for those of us who want a custom Buck but dont want a display piece.

Matt,
Welcome!

Appreciate Jeff being on here over the years, can appreciate if it is time for him to hand the baton off.

Great for Buck to have a presence here!

I think its great that Buck has a model exclusive to the Boy Scouts to honor those who achieve Eagle Scout rank. I would counsel Buck to maintain that model exclusively for a unique and valuable organization that has had such a positive impact on citizens and future outdoorsmen to honor and reward its highest achievers, Eagle Scouts, many of whom have gone on to become some of our greatest leaders and citizens for over 100 years!

Buck should never forget that Boy Scouting was the introduction to many of its most loyal customers / collectors to the Buck product line.

Full disclosure...a regretful BSA "Lifer" here.. 🫤

Welcome Matt, sorry to hear about the 300 series. Hopefully we can get some different color handle materials on them before the phase out. Maybe some yellow comfort craft handles laying around somewhere?

Thank you, I hope to be an active participant on this forum. Jeff will still be around but for now you'll just get me. My name is Matt Smit, I am the Customer Service Manager at Buck Knives. I manage our Warranty Dept. ,Customer Service, and factory store here in Post Falls. I might have some of the Customer Service team answers questions from time to time but hope I can keep up.
So what is up with Buck...I have several NIB knives I bought from the factory where the sicker on the outer box sleeve reflecting date of manufacture does NOT match the date roll mark on the knife...this is VERY frustrating when I am trying to buy several different knives all made in the same year.

How about adding the 500 to the custom shop to finish out the 500 series? Thanks!

I’m all in for a Cherrywood 500 Duke as soon as it’s available. 👍🏻

I also am very happy to have an active Buck presence here. Thanks 😊

The sticker only represents the day it was packaged and boxed not necessarily when the blade was produced.
