Hey folks, just had a 'lovely' day today with my Zelle account being shut down due to some flags on two accounts that were being sent to me. I called to see what was going on and my bank said, "Hey, it's Zelle not us" and said that Zelle found two accounts that were suspicious of being scammers that were tied to my account of funds coming in. I was a bit taken aback by all that! And they said, no, nothing that I did, just that my account was the one that these other accounts were sending in money were flagged by Zelle. I only had a couple recently and one I tried to buy something which made me aware that something was going on as they blocked that person and wouldn't let me send funds.
The bank lady asked, 'is the person you are trying to send money to a close friend?' I said while not a close personal friend but it is someone that I would trust enough to do that. And she proceeded to...politely...reprimand me regarding using Zelle for other than family or close personal friends. I said. 'how many close friends do people have?' but acquaintances we have from one way or another you do get to kinda know a person. But when it comes to money and banks, banks always seem to win.
So fair warning to you good folks out there that use Zelle, for a very very long time I held off doing any transactions such as that, relying more on US Postal money orders or checks. And that seems to be what I am going to return to as of today...
