Well I got to look at the Sebenzas and...

Good, they're overrated.

opinion. Not fact.

maybe i'll buy one when I'm older, my first job pays 9.50 an hour.
And I'm sorry for being such a cactus on your rear because of my opinion.

Why would you buy a knife you feel is overrated? And you never answered the question. How many have you even seen in person? The issue isnt about you having an opinion. Its when people have negative opinions based on little to no experience that bothers some. I cant tell you if a knife is overrated when I have never had one. I wish I had those powers. But I like to speak from a position of experience not parroting. BTW I have only owned 1 sebenza. It doesnt have what I like in a knife currently. But the last thing I would call it is overrated.

I think it's funny and a little sad that a person talks about a knife and then gets attacked. He then responds saying the fans are a bunch of narcissistic a××holes. They then attack him for saying that. And the mods allow all these attacks. Why? Why do people attacking others on behalf of a specific knife company vet a free pass? IMO if CRK was good enough to warrant all those awards and the selling price, the knives and the man who makes them wouldn't need a bunch of people making personal attacks against someone who's not used the product. All that needs to be said is that knives are like wine, some people like one brand, some people like one model, some people like them all, and some people like none.

If a dude says he doesn't like CRK, why is it so hard to say "ok, that's great. They win awards for a reason. If it's not your thing, then great. Why resort to insulting a man because of his experience/opinion? Do you really believe Chris Reeve would want you tarnishing his reputation because you're a rabid fan? Leave the guys alone, if they never buy one, never handle one, and never lay so much as a finger on one, what's it matter to you? Are YOU Chris Reeve? Do you own stock in his company? Why do YOU personally involve yourself in something in which you have ZERO control?

If you like them, great. If someone else doesn't, fine. Stop attacking those who feel differently than you or have had different experiences than you.

Personally, I don't care for the XM18. I think it's overrated at this point. I think they're worth about 200 bucks brand new. I think the add ons are ridiculous and completely and ludicrously overpriced. I think their customer service and warranty kind of suck (With the exception of Rick Hinderer himself, he seems like a decent dude). Am I going to be attacked now because it's been a fad knife for some time? What have I said that personally affects YOU?

You want to know what makes me sad (along with these negative knife discussion thread's):

Maybe if some of you people would spend your valuable time, writing positive reviews about the knives you like, instead of harping on these stupid, incessant trolling threads, this would be a much happier place! This subject, has been covered beyond the point of, Ad nauseam...if that's possible! :barf:

No one will read it no matter how big you make it.

EDITED TO ADD: I did end up reading it anyways just to see if anything has changed since the last hundred times this was copied and pasted. I dont think you read the thread. Nearly no one had a problem with the OP. Still one might question what the point is of starting a thread which its only message is that they dont like a very very very popular knife. Its not like it hasnt come up before. And I dont know what weight this person has in the community that an announcement is justified.

Still its not what people say but how they say it. You can say you dont like something without being insulting. And calling owners of a knife narcissistic A-holes is probably not the best way to get you point across without conflict. Then you have people who express dislike yet have absolutely no experience with it sans videos and pictures on the internet. This is a knife community. No one gets attacked for liking or not liking something. They get attacked for how they bring that information to the attention of others. Its a matter of respect. If you dont show it you wont get it. People can either make and effort to be a part of the community or they can be at odds with the community. Criticism is not a problem. Soapboxing, drum beating and repetitive whining on the same topic is however.

Thank you for putting it in the proper format- the large font, made me very sad! :(

FWIW: this is a perfect example of why, negative thread's eventually end up the same way- closed!

Im sorry. I edited my post to explain my position. I shouldnt have contributed to the problem.

My apologies. I wasn't referring to your comment, PURPLEDC, more to the direction that these thread's always seem to take. You actually made one of thee more profound, intelligent, civil comments that I've had the pleasure of reading, in one of these debates:

Looks like SOME OF YOU didn't get the memo that I'm the only one whose opinion is fact :grumpy:

:D

Wow 7 pages of arguments. I only made this thread as a sequal to my other thread about Sebenzas. Some of you told me to just go by what I like in that thread and not by a price tag. Also I thought this was a place for knife discussion? A alterior motive should not be assumed. I am learning and enjoying this new hobby.

I have saved the money for a Sebenza twice now. The first time I got sidetracked by a Glock 23 the second time a Mossberg 930. I don't know why but I just can't seem to pull the trigger on a new Sebenza. I really like the way they look and feel and their reputation is amazing. Does that mean I think they're overrated NO does it mean those that do buy them are only doing it for some kind of knife status NO. It simply means I personally for the money prefer firearms while others would prefer the knife. Are either of us wrong NO. It's fine to like or not like something it's not fine to insult or belittle someone for having a different opinion from yours. I would like to say the day I walked into a local Pawn Shop and was able to purchase my Sebenza 21 for $200 I was a very happy man.

The Sebenza is a great knife. Are there better out there? Some. Are there worse out there? Many. Will it be right for you? Maybe. Can you change someone else's mind about them? Doubtful. What did anyone gain from this thread? Nothing.

Guns are cheap, even the "expensive" ones. When you look at the amount of money you spend on ammo to wear out the RSA on a Glock, it will be much more than the cost of the gun was. Go through 8 RSAs and look at what the cost for ammo is then.

A knife that costs as much as a Glock is well worth it to save up for. It's once and done, the warranty will cover it forever unless you unlock doors with it and a hammer to assist. If I had the money in hand to buy a Glock and wanted a knife for about the same price, I'd get the knife, I have the Glock already and they are so bland I see no reason to own another.

You can resell a sebenza used for much more than you can the Glock as well. Just my take on the gun or knife comparison. As it is I shoot so much it's more like ammo, or an expensive knife. I have a sebenza so it's more ammo lol.

Pretty funny and sad that some people will tell others that their opinions are wrong. Just goes to show how narrow minded some are.
Please stop using every chance you guys get to throw your immense intellect around.

You must have missed the fact that the Glock 23 had potential Recoil Spring Assembly problems in those manufactured 2011 back. And they voluntarily sent replacement parts for free to all that requested them. I took a look at your other post and for the life of me I cannot understand how you have time to shoot so many rounds and field test so many knives not to mention work when from the time stamps on your posts it appears you do nothing more than stay on the internet spreading your argumentative self exalting rhetoric. Had you understood my post you would have realized I was relating that opinions are just that and everyone is entitled to theirs. Simply put my opinion is that you are nothing more or less than a forum troll. Seeking to distract from those that enjoy this forum and both share and benefit from the cumulative knowledge of those that post here. So you can react and reply to this post in any manner you wish I will not read it nor anything else you post ever as IMO you are a flash in the pan that is destined to either just fade away or be banned by the Mods for spreading discourse on this forum.

lol. You are aware the RSA in any self loading pistol has a life span right? I'm not trolling on Glock about a recall here, I'm talking regular wear and tear. On a G23 the new non recall RSA has a life span of 4,000-5,000 rounds. The cheapest 40 ammo I've seen recently at 5,000 rounds is $1,497.00. Scrounging up free brass at the range and loading your own could be done at about 1/3 that and that's still more costly than a Sebenza. Now if you shoot like I do, 8 RSAs is easy to go through if you invest the time into the shooting sports.

It's called being retired. I have 625 acres at my disposal out back with a large pond and even a river at the end with some creeks. Lots of woods too. Instead of speculating, maybe ask why next time. Even though your post is brash and offensive, calling me a troll for having time to spend outdoors and try to share experiences online dose not help you or the others any.

just read every post in this thread, I've been through the metaphorical knife ringer having tried just about every mid-tech out there as well as a custom or three, the only knife that blew me away when it first arrived was a small sebenza insingo (later left it in a motel room, yup, still hurts) but I still tried many other knives, namely striders, but I recently acquired a sebenza 25 with silver thumb studs from TNK and for what I've been looking for it hits all the right notes, it's not cheap but if looked at from the pov that you might not need another knife it seems like a good value, won't say cheap :D

Yes, sad isn't it? Some folks have no clue has how to comport themselves and love the relative anonymity that the internet affords them to do their little schtick. Threads like this can be a magnet for certain types of comments. Do not pay attention to the people that require the use of the largest font they can find to whine and cry about things (and make little sense in the process), or feel the need to be braggarts about whatever as if any one really cared. This is a place for knife discussion, some people will be reminded of that and if they do not get it, they will be gone. Either that, or someone is going to have to start paying us to run a babysitting service for grown ass people.
