'morning all -- been out of the loop for a few weeks; looking forward to trolling the waters today :D

Looks like the big sharks are in the waters today. This minnow doesn't stand a chance. :)
 
I have a meeting today that will probably keep me from being in the waters today at launch. I wish all you sharks and minnows good luck.

Hmmm. False humility, methinks. ;)

If you can code in java and SQL, you can write a program that interfaces with a web browser and does the sharking for you.

I did it using python. :p
 
I'll be checking in from a distance as usual, just to see what happens. This week the Mrs got an invite to a "Race for the Cure" event that's about 8 weeks away and it looks like we are in for some new running gear. She seems bound and determined to join it despite the fact she will still have chemo that day. Back in the day we used to run a lot more. I think we will be getting back to it again. Nice to see her excited :)

My Cray has been sharking for me for the past year; unfortunately, footing the bill for the power consumption has caused me to sell a number of fiddlebacks along with a kidney or two. As an aside, the AI seems to have different taste in knives than myself. :D

This is just too inorganic. You need a return to a rotary phone and order sheets, like used to happen on the original Fiddleback Mondays. ;):D

No dude. I'm serious.

I wrote a program that:

1. refreshes my web browser every 5 seconds
2. Looks for a thread that ends in a substring that is the date that the new Fiddleback Friday thread will use
3. Automatically responds to the thread with the text I supply it based on the FOTKI pictures that got posted earlier

Before I wrote this, I had two Fiddlebacks. I now have eleven.

And I don't even need to be at my computer for it to work.

It doesn't take a Cray. Just a little creativity.

So...yeah. Computers. They're hot sh!t.

Full disclosure:

I've never been the first response in Friday sale thread. And some of my knives were bought in the flea market. But, my program works pretty well. And I might tweak/improve it a little if I can be bothered.

Also, I'm not particularly scrupulous. Not about some things anyway.

So...I'll shark something for anybody. If they have something I want. :devilish:

cool -- I had thought compiling a small .jar to do this, but over the years there has been some variability to the thread titles. With that said, I didn't put too much effort into it -- however, it sounds like you are well on your way to a patented sharking app ;) :thumbup:
