Saved the buckle from my old belt and built around it :)
Looks like ya got that half and half just right with the stamp!

Here it is finished with retention strap on.

Very nice indeed! Redmeadow is right and I think I've mentioned that to ya before but you have developed a specific style that is recognizable across the room. Something we should all be trying for. From a business standpoint its very important.

Couple rifle scabbards left here a couple of days ago. I make these for different length barreled rifles. The rough out one is a little extra long the smoothout one is a lot extral long and a much wider throat too:

Wow those are nice !!!! One of these days I’m trying my hand at one of these !!!! I bought a pattern already now I just have to get the nerve up to try lol.

Thank you for the kind words very much appreciated !!!!! I’m trying to find my own way. And the way I’m currently doing things seems to work ??? Lol. I’m always looking to change things up, but why when this now seems to be my way of doing things :)

I'd agree. You do what you do, I do what I do. I've sent people to ya when they want something more like what ya make, rather then what I make. Same with Paul and I. I've sent folks to him and he to me. G2 too. I think ya have found your way for sure.

Don't be scared of rifle scabbards. They are pretty easy to do. Just big. I think I did a little tutorial on one didn't I?

Thank you and yes I’ve done same with referring people to you as well as some other makers 👍

Lol,,,, yes you did do a tutorial on these. :-) The tote bag I made awhile back is still in use. So if it’s holding up , i guess I’ll try the rifle scabbard.

What could go wrong? Its only dead cow. They make more every day.

Oh I’m sure that’s to blame somehow !!!!

Nope , a tree climber bear I did not have !!! Couple white tail bucks floated in though. I’ll try to get pics next time

Picked up this little splitter the other day along with a couple dozen stamps and some oddball supplies at a sale. I'd never heard of Ivan Leathercraft Co. but they're still in business. This one looks to be unused for the most part but I'd guess it's at least a few decades old. I was able to pay much less than the old proce tag of $75. Stout little machine and works great once everything's adjusted. It's got around a 4" throat. Anyone ever use one?

It's stout for sure, I've split a little with it and seems to work well, with some more use I'll get the hang of the adjustment. Let me know if you have any questions about it, it looks to be just like the ones they make now.

Thank you

I’ve been shopping around a little and some prices are $$$$ 😳

But I’m getting tired buying same leather in multiple weights. Plus I’m running out of room to store leather lol.

Tandy sold a similar one that we have and hate but still use. We are seriously considering the Cobra splitter but thats 26 Benjamins! However, I was talking to Paul Long a couple of weeks ago and he was telling me how he can't imagine how he got by without one for all those years. Same deal as duramax. He buys one weight of leather and splits down everything else he needs.. Think the Cobra splitter just got backburnered though. Daughter just got engaged. Plus I think with what we're doing we'd probably get their bell skiver first before the splitter.

Those splitters work very well for smaller (narrow) pieces as long as you keep it sharp and adjusted. I used one for a lot of years for belts, straps, small scabbards, and various pieces in projects. It does need a firm leather to cut uniformly.
I picked up a Cobra splitter a year or so ago and never looked back. Like everything, it has a learning curve and limitations but it has greatly expanded what I can do with the leather I have on hand and it is wide enough it even handles holster sized pieces with ease. I use it almost every day.

I couldn't find an electric pot for my Neatsfoot Oil so I bought some small glass custard cups with plastic lids. It should float on hot water good without tipping while it warms up. I found some potpourri electric pots but they won't say how hot they get and I don't buy from companies that don't describe their products well.

I toss mine in a cheap electric toaster oven. Even on my inexpensive oven I can adjust the temp a lot. I’m getting the extra large version next 👍 Just don’t male toast in it after lol.

That will work. The glass cup should work fine. Then I can put the lid on it to keep from wasting the oil. They were in a pack of four so I'll have three more for other stuff.
